Highlights

Kirchberg
Kirchberg is a quarter in north-eastern Luxembourg City, in southern Luxembourg. It consists of a plateau overlooking the north-east of the historical city center, Ville Haute, connected to the rest of the elevated city by the Grand Duchess Charlotte Bridge, which spans the Pfaffenthal valley. It is often referred to as the Kirchberg plateau, or simply, the Kirchberg by Luxembourg residents. Kirchberg is the predominant location of the European Union institutions and bodies based within Luxembourg and is sometimes used as a metonym for the EU's judiciary, which occupies the quarter. It is thus the central business district of Luxembourg.
Luxembourg
Luxembourg, also known as Luxembourg City is the capital city of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the country's most populous commune. Standing at the confluence of the Alzette and Pétrusse Rivers in southern Luxembourg, the city lies at the heart of Western Europe, situated 213 km by road from Brussels, 372 km from Paris, and 209 km from Cologne. The city contains Luxembourg Castle, established by the Franks in the Early Middle Ages, around which a settlement developed. In the 2011 Mercer worldwide survey of 221 cities, Luxembourg was placed first for personal safety, while it was ranked 19th for quality of living.
Luxexpo The Box
Modern conference & exhibition center hosting events & seasonal fairs, with an on-site restaurant.
Place de l'Europe
The triangular area of the Place de l'Europe (which was previously an open-air car park at the foot of the Alcide De Gasperi tower building) was designed by the Catalan architect Ricardo Bofill in 2004. Access to this highly symbolic, black-paved area, which celebrates the setting of the European Institutions in Luxembourg, is up stately steps from Avenue J.F. Kennedy. Main buildings on the Place de l'Europe: Philharmonie, Alcide De Gasperi Building, New Conference Center, MUDAM and Musée Dräi Eechelen - fortress, history and identities.
The European Investment Bank
The European Investment Bank (EIB), the banking institution of the European Union for long-term investments, has been founded in 1957 by the Treaties of Rome. The building is the work of the English architect, Sir Denys Lasdun (1914 - 2001) an eminent exponent of the modernist movement known as "brutalist" and who also designed the Royal National Theatre in London. The 1st extension to the bank was also designed by Denys Lasdun in 1990, but, by contrast, literally merges into the countryside. Today, it is covered by a wooden deck which forms an outside terrace above the connecting passage to the 2nd extension (2009) built by the Architectural agency Ingenhoven Overdiek & Partners.
The European Parliament buildings
The European Parliament's presence in Kirchberg, Luxembourg currently consists of the Parliament's secretariat, although the Parliament had held plenary sessions in the city for a brief period. There are a handful of buildings in Luxembourg used by the Parliament. The city hosts the Secretariat of the European Parliament (employing over 4000 people), mostly based in the Kirchberg district. The buildings in use are the ones named after Robert Schuman and Konrad Adenauer and most recently two new tower buildings (TOA and TOB) either side of Av. John F. Kennedy. Some services are installed in the Gold Bell building in the south of the city. The old hemicycle in Luxembourg City still exists despite no longer being used by the Parliament since 1981 (it is now the seat of the EFTA Court).
The National Sports and Culture Centre d'Coque
The National Sports and Culture Centre d'Coque, better known simply as d'Coque, is a sporting and cultural venue with an indoor arena and Olympic-sized swimming pool, amongst other facilities, in Kirchberg, a quarter of Luxembourg City, in Luxembourg. More recently it has expanded into providing onsite hotel services, and acting as a conference venue.
