Aile Castle is a castle in the municipality of Vevey of the Canton of Vaud in Switzerland. It is a Swiss heritage site of national significance.
Chaplin's World
Museum honoring Charlie Chaplin in his former home, with interactive displays, memorabilia and a cafe. Pay a visit to Charlie Chaplin museum located on a hill dominating Geneva Lake and the pleasant city of Vevey. The great filmmaker spent there 25 years of his life with his family. Recently transformed into a museum it has been opened to the public and enlarged with another building where a short movie and a film studio make you acquainted with his life and career.
Charlie Chaplin statue
In 1952, Charlie Chaplin chose to settle at the Manoir de Ban in Corsier-sur-Vevey with his wife and children, 4 of whom were born in Switzerland. He lived there happily until 1977. In his memory, the famous bronze statue of The Tramp, created by the British sculptor John Doubleday, has been sitting on the quays of Vevey since 1982.
Fork of Vevey
Fork of Vevey is an 8-metre-tall (26 ft), 1.3-metre-wide (4.3 ft) stainless steel fork on the shore of Lake Geneva in Vevey, Switzerland. Fork of Vevey is a part of the Alimentarium, a Vevey-based museum with a permanent exhibition on food and Nestlé's history. The fork was initially created in 1995 by the Swiss artist Jean-Pierre Zaugg to mark the Alimentarium’s tenth anniversary. The fork was removed in 1996 but reinstated about a decade later, following a public petition. Since 2014 Fork of Vevey is a Guinness World Record holder as the world’s tallest fork.
Lake Geneva
Lake Geneva (or Lac Léman) is a crescent-shaped lake shared between France and Switzerland, and overlooked by the Alps. Geneva, the Swiss city at its southern tip, is a diplomatic hub with luxury shops and a cobbled old town. On the southern, French side, is the spa town and resort of Évian-les-Bains. The chic, palm-studded Swiss Riviera stretches along the north shore from Lausanne to Montreux.
Montreux
Montreux is a traditional resort town on Lake Geneva. Nestled between steep hills and the lakeside, it's known for its mild microclimate and the Montreux Jazz Festival, held in July. The town's promenade is lined with flowers, sculptures, Mediterranean trees and grand Belle Époque buildings. Offshore is a medieval island castle, Château de Chillon, with ramparts, formal halls and a chapel with 14th-century murals.
Vevey
Vevey is a Swiss town on Lake Geneva. On the promenade, marked by a giant fork protruding from the lake, is the nutrition museum Alimentarium, with culinary objects and workshops. A Charlie Chaplin statue is nearby. This one-time Vevey resident is also celebrated at Chaplin’s World, on his former country estate. The Musée Jenisch is dedicated to art on paper, with works by Dürer, Goya, Degas, Picasso and others.
