On a day trip to Yunshuiyao Ancient Village from Xiamen

Hegui Building, also known as the Mountain Foot House, was built in the Qing Dynasty for ten years. Its significance is to persuade the world to carry forward the traditional virtues of harmony and value. Heguilou was built on the marshland with pine wood. Hekeng Tulou Cluster, one of the most incredible Tulou clusters, inscribed as one of the 46 Fujian Tulou World Heritage Sites. It all distributed in the narrow strip of small rivers, like a shape of letter T, means Triones. Hekeng Tulou Cluster is the densest Tulou building area in Nanjing County. Having a birds’ eye view of the Hekeng Tulou Cluster, you will find the huge “T” earth buildings spreading between green mountains and clean water, adding a field to this magnificent scenery A total of 46 Fujian Tulou sites, including Chuxi tulou cluster, Tianluokeng tulou cluster, Hekeng tulou cluster, Gaobei tulou cluster, Dadi tulou cluster, Hongkeng tulou cluster, Yangxian lou, Huiyuan lou, Zhengfu lou and Hegui lou, have been inscribed in 2008 by UNESCO as World Heritage Site, as "exceptional examples of a building tradition and function exemplifying a particular type of communal living and defensive organization harmonious relationship with their environment".

Huaiyuan Building is a double-ring circular earth building with exquisite construction and good protection. Huaiyuan Building is the second ring building. The architect is the architect of Zhencheng Building. The design of the building is quite neat and characteristic. There is a taiji pattern lined with cobblestones in front of the building. The earth building and the village are surrounded by paddy fields and tea hills, a peaceful pastoral map.

Located at the southeast coast of China, Xiamen is a tourist city of Fujian Province famous for its attractive seascape. As one of the major seaports since ancient times, it boasts a wide gulf with deep water but without freezing and silting. The name was consequently given, which means 'the gate of China'. As one of the forerunners of the special economic zones of China, the city mainly consisting of Xiamen Island, Gulangyu Island, the north bank area of the Jiulong River and Tong'an County, is connected with the mainland by the Gaoji Seawall, Xiamen Bridge, etc. The city has been called the Egret Island because of the hundreds of thousands of egrets inhabiting there. This is due to the beautiful natural scenery, the fresh air and the clean environment of the city.

Yunshuiyao Old Town, also known as The Knot Town had obtained its fame through a popular Chinese movie called Yún shǔi yáo which had won the Best Film in the 2007 Golden Rooster Awards. Yún shǔi yáo literally means "The Song of the Clouds and Waters", mainly elaborates a loving story in 1960s in old times of China. Till today, most of the buildings in town, interior decoration of their houses and shooting scenes were still maintained the same as they were been filming 10 years ago. The reason why Yunshuiyao has attracted so many tourists is because of its tranquil and peaceful ambience of old time Chinese village. Here they have the highest concentration of thousands-years-old banyan tree group in Fujian province. They are standing here as a historical witness of the changing lives. Walking through the cobbled path under those ancient trees which will lead you to the heart of those ancient villagers’ houses, you would feel like as if it is walking into a mysterious long lived history alive.
