You will be met at the port and guided to your air-conditioned transportation ready to commence your tour.
Your tour begins at the port and then take a coach journey to the central part of the island to visit Naxxar, the home of Palazzo Parisio. This noble palace has justifiably been described as ‘a miniature Versailles’ the interiors are rich with fine frescoes, magnificent marble, mirrored walls, rare paintings and extravagant gilding. The internationally recognized landscape gardens, which are acclaimed as being amongst the finest in Europe, further reflect the splendour of this gracious home. Palazzo Parisio was originally built in 1733 for Portuguese Grand Master Manoel de Vilhena. In 1898 it was bought by the Marquis Giuseppe Scicluna, who transformed it into one of the island’s most extravagantly beautiful residences.
Your tour then continues on to visit the old capital city of Mdina. The city is situated in the centre of the island. Mdina is a walled city that was strategically built on high ground. The view from the bastions across the many miles of countryside is truly amazing. From this high vantage point of the fortified ramparts, the hill at Mtarfa can be seen. This hill is where the Ottoman Turks made camp during their fierce attacks on the island. The great dome of Mosta’s church can also be seen, this is the 3rd largest dome in the World.
Your tour then concludes by coach as you make your return journey back to the port.
