Private tour following the Beatles and Liverpool city
Liverpool is situated on the estuary of the River Mersey. It is the fourth largest city in the United Kingdom. It is a main port and chief commercial centre. The city forms a crescent on the eastern bank of the Mersey.
Long stretches of docks and warehouses line the waterfront area.
The Mersey estuary is linked by a ship canal with Manchester and other nearby industrial cities. The economy of Liverpool is based largely on shipping and related businesses. Liverpool has a rich seafaring heritage and is highlighted by the famous song ‘Ferry across the Mersey’ and this certainly is the best way to see the amazing waterfront. The Three Graces, The Liver Building, and The Cunard Building are all famous landmarks. The Pier Head area forms part of the Liverpool Maritime Mercantile City, which is a UNESCO designated World Heritage Site. Liverpool is famous for having two Cathedrals as well as two Premiership football teams, Liverpool and Everton. Their stadiums are situated at either end of Stanley Park. Liverpool is also home to the famous Beatles, both John Lennon and Paul McCartney had their childhood homes in the Allerton area of Liverpool, and this was the inspiration for some of their most famous songs including Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields.

You will be met at the port of Liverpool and guided to your air-conditioned transport.
This tour will take you on a delightful panoramic journey of Liverpool City and through the leafy suburbs to the picturesque sandstone village of Woolton, where John Lennon met Paul McCartney in 1957. There you can enjoy refreshments (not included). Guests will learn the story of the Fab4 whilst at the same time enjoying the wonderful Victorian parks and gardens, one of which was the template for Central Park in New York. You will see the childhood homes of all four Beatles as well as have photo stops at Penny Lane & Strawberry Field.
You will return to the magnificent City of Liverpool and enjoy a panoramic tour with several stops, in particular exploring Hope Street which won the UK Great Urban Street Award. This contains the Philharmonic Hall, the Stirling Prize Winning Everyman Theatre, not one but two magnificent Cathedrals one of which is the worlds’ fifth largest. You will also see the schools and colleges the Fab4 attended.
The Cavern Club in the City Centre is a must-visit for any Beatles fan and if you do not want to walk down the 40 steps to see the place that the Beatles performed 292 times, don’t worry as the Cavern Quarter is magnificent and there is lots more to do there, and many shops to buy gifts and souvenirs if you wish to.
Your driver/guide will bring the whole city to life and you will understand how the legacy of the fab4 has shaped the superb vibrant city that Liverpool is today. They will also point out lots of other things to do and places to eat for the rest of your day in the Port of Liverpool.
Although this is a Beatles inspired tour, the route really showcases the city today and this tour really has something for everybody.
