Nice
Nice, capital of the Alpes-Maritimes department on the French Riviera, sits on the pebbly shores of the Baie des Anges. Founded by the Greeks and later a retreat for 19th-century European elite, the city has also long attracted artists. Itinerary

09:00

The views out over the bay of Villefranche set the tone. There’ll be time to take in the beauty of it all before you head off to the medieval town of Eze. At 1200 feet above sea level, there are some more spectacular vistas of the Mediterranean here. (Particularly if you head right up to the garden at the top of the village.) While you’re here, you can also take advantage of a free visit to the Fragonard perfume factory.

From Eze, you’ll soon arrive in the altogether more modern Monaco. With its famous cathedral (where Prince Rainier and Princess Grace were married), it is a spectacular Golden Square Casino, and its Formula 1 circuit, there’s plenty to see. And you’ll have time to see (and do it all). You can even drive a lap of the F1 circuit!

Then, a slight change of pace. It’s off to Provence. First stop: the charming town of Saint-Paul de Vence with its medieval walls and traditional narrow streets. Packed with art galleries and boutiques, it’s a wonderful place to linger and lose yourself for a little while.

You’ll round off the day with a quick trip down the Promenade des Anglais to Nice. Retaining its old-world charm and beauty, you can enjoy the chance to relax and explore. The flower-filled market square is a particular highlight. But there’s lots more for you to discover here – and there’s plenty of time to enjoy the sights.

Finally, it’s back to the ship, to relax and look back over those photographs.
