Vila Nova de Gaia
A hub of the port wine industry, Vila Nova de Gaia is peppered with cellars offering tours and tastings. It’s also known for sandy beaches like Praia da Madalena, and the scenic riverside road Cais de Gaia, with its cafe terraces and expansive views across the Douro. Small restaurants serve grilled fish and seafood in the old fishing village of Afurada, where picturesque tiled houses line narrow streets.

Why not begin your journey by climbing up to the gardens of the Crystal Palace which offers spectacular views. You will pass by the Cordoaria’s garden and Clerigo’s tower before arriving at the Lello bookstore.  Opened in 1906 it is considered one of the most beautiful in the world and is famous for being an inspiration being J.K Rowling’s Harry Potter saga.

Now you will be in the heart of the historical area of the city. Make your way through the avenues and plazas absorbing the vibrancy of the city until you reach the Sao Bento train station and the Se Cathedral.

It is now time to cross the river and explore what lies on the opposite banks. Visit Vila Nova de Gaia where you can admire the city in all of its glory at the Serra do Pilar viewpoint.

Next, we suggest whizzing your way along the streets of Calcada da Serra to the foot of the Dom Luis I bridge. After crossing the bridge, you will pass the Ribeira neighborhood, a typical example of Porto living and the Bolsa Palace.

You will finish your tour as you pass along the Alfandega do Porto and by the Vila Nova de Gaia.

With your tour now over, you will return your electric car and make your way back to the port.
