Tarragona
Tarragona is a port city in northeastern Spain’s Catalonia region. Many ancient ruins remain from its time as the Roman colony of Tarraco. The Amfiteatre Romà is a 2nd-century arena facing the Mediterranean, the Necropolis contains Roman tombs, and traces of the Forum stand among the alleys of the walled, medieval Old Town. A walkway along the ramparts, the Passeig Arqueològic, has sweeping views of the city.

Itinerary

10:00

The tour will start with a scenic drive to the historical city of Tarragona passing by the famous Mediterranean balcony (a lookout point offering excellent views of the cruise port, beach and, of course, the Mediterranean Sea.  El Balcon del Mediterraneo is situated in the centre of the modern city and at the beginning of the main avenue – La Rambla).
The walking tour will commence at the beginning of the walled City the entrance through Portal del Roser gate.  Your guide will be taking you through the streets explaining the history of the walls before coming to the Plaza de la Font, passing by the  Town House and we continue to the Pla de la Seu where the cathedral can be found (entrance is not included, however, if customers wish to enter the Cathedral this can be done within the free time, there is a local fee of 5.50€ per person).
The guide will talk about Tarragona in its form many years ago, there is a model of the Old Tarraco in a building within the old town which the guide will point out and try to help to visualise what the city was like and compare to how the city has changed over the years and also describing the monumental remains that currently still stand.
The tour will then continue to the Mediterranean Balcony nearby the Amphitheatre, there is a clear view of the Amphitheatre from the balcony and plenty of time to take photographs whilst your guide is talking about the history of this site.  Here at the Mediterranean Balcony, you will be able to take some free time, whether to take photographs or to simply sit and take in the views with a coffee on the terrace.

After the free time, your guide will accompany you back to the meeting point where your transportation will be waiting to take you back to your cruise ship in plenty of time for your cruise ships departure.
