Highlights

Alligator Rivers
Alligator Rivers is the name of an area in an Arnhem Land region of the Northern Territory of Australia, containing three rivers, the East, West, and South Alligator Rivers. It is regarded as one of the richest biological regions in Australia, with part of the region in the Kakadu National Park. It is an Important Bird Area (IBA), lying to the east of the Adelaide and Mary River Floodplains IBA. It also contains mineral deposits, especially uranium, and the Ranger Uranium Mine is located there. The area is also rich in Australian Aboriginal art, with 1500 sites. The Kakadu National Park is one of the few World Heritage sites on the list because of both its natural and human heritage values. They were explored by Lieutenant Phillip Parker King in 1820, who named them in the mistaken belief that the crocodiles in the estuaries were alligators.
Arnhem Land
Arnhem Land is a historical region of the Northern Territory of Australia. It is located in the north-eastern corner of the territory and is around 500 km (310 mi) from the territory capital, Darwin. In 1623, Dutch East India Company captain Willem Joosten van Colster (or Coolsteerdt) sailed into the Gulf of Carpentaria and Cape Arnhem is named after his ship, the Arnhem, which itself was named after the city of Arnhem in the Netherlands.
Corroboree Billabong
Corroboree Billabong is part of the Mary River Wetlands. It is teeming with birds and also boasts the largest concentration of saltwater crocodiles in the world.
Darwin
Darwin is the capital city of the Northern Territory of Australia, situated on the Timor Sea. With a 2018 estimated population of 148,564, it has more residents than the rest of the sparsely populated Northern Territory. It is the smallest, wettest, and most northerly of the Australian capital cities and serves as the Top End's regional centre.
Garnmarr Campgroung
The Garnamarr Campground caters for about 200 people and is located beside the Jim Jim Falls access road about 50km from the Kakadu Highway.
Jim Jim Falls
The Jim Jim Falls (Aboriginal: Barrkmalam) is a plunge waterfall on the Jim Jim Creek that descends over the Arnhem Land escarpment within the UNESCO World Heritage–listed Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory of Australia. The Jim Jim Falls area is registered on the Australian National Heritage List.
Maguk
Maguk (Barramundi Gorge) is located in the south of Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory, Australia. Maguk is one of the only waterfalls in Kakadu that flows while there is no rain. Towards the end of the dry season however, the flow is much weaker than in the peak of the wet season.
National Kakadu Park
Kakadu National Park is a protected area in the Northern Territory of Australia, 171 km southeast of Darwin. The park is located within the Alligator Rivers Region of the Northern Territory. It covers an area of 19,804 km2 (7,646 sq mi), extending nearly 200 kilometres (120 mi) from north to south and over 100 kilometres (62 mi) from east to west. It is the size of Wales, about one-third the size of Tasmania, and nearly half the size of Switzerland. The Ranger Uranium Mine, one of the most productive uranium mines in the world, is surrounded by the park.
Twin Falls (Northern Territory)
The Twin Falls is a cascade waterfall on the South Alligator River that descends over the Arnhem Land escarpment within the UNESCO World Heritage–listed Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory of Australia. In 1980, The Twin Falls area was listed on the now-defunct Register of the National Estate.
Ubirr
Ubirr is a rock formation within the East Alligator region of Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory of Australia, and is known for its rock art. It consists of a group of rock outcrops on the edge of the Nadab floodplain where there are several natural shelters that have a collection of Aboriginal rock paintings, some of which are many thousands of years old. The art depicts certain creation ancestors as well as animals from the area such as barramundi, catfish, mullet, goannas, long-necked turtles, pig-nosed turtles, rock ringtail possums, and wallabies.
Warradjan Cultural Centre
Situated one kilometre outside of Cooinda Lodge in the heart of Kakadu, the Warradjan Cultural Centre provides visitors with an insight into the Aboriginal history of the area, sharing age-old stories and traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation.
White Lily Billabong
The Kakadu National Park is one of the most incredible swathes of scenery in the whole of Australia. The bold escarpment has lush forests, sprawling woodland, and plenty of waterfalls to cool off in and enjoy the views from.
