The Basilica of San Petronio is a minor basilica and church of the Archdiocese of Bologna located in Bologna, Emilia Romagna, northern Italy. It dominates Piazza Maggiore. The basilica is dedicated to the patron saint of the city, Saint Petronius, who was the bishop of Bologna in the fifth century.

The Fountain of Neptune is a monumental civic fountain located in the eponymous square, Piazza del Nettuno, next to Piazza Maggiore, in Bologna, Italy The fountain is a model example of Mannerist taste of the Italian courtly elite in the mid-sixteenth century.
Piazza della Mercanzia
On the side of the Two Towers opens the piazza della Mercanzia in Bologna. The square is a very asymmetrical and busy space dominated by the palace of the same name, a splendid example of a gothic building (Palazzo della Mercanzia). It was erected in 1391, and already in the Roman era it was the merchant forum, at the crossroads between the ancient Via Emilia and Via Salaria, which led to Rimini and Ravenna. The project was entrusted to the famous architect of San Petronio and Palazzo Re Enzo, Antonio di Vincenzo.
