Overview

According to the legend, the Iskanderkul Lake was named after Alexander the Great, known as Iskander in the East. People say that Alexander the Great's path to India passed by this lake. It lies at an altitude of 2, 195 meters (7, 201 ft) on the northern slopes of the Gissar Range in the Fann Mountains. This trip will definitely be the highlight of your travel!

Highlights

Anzob
Anzob is a town and jamoat in north-west Tajikistan. It is located in Ayni District in Sughd Region, in the Zarafshan Range, about 110 kilometres north of Dushanbe. The jamoat has a total population of 8,238. It is located on the M34 highway and in the Yaghnob River valley.
Dushanbe
Dushanbe, on the Varzob River, is the capital of Tajikistan. On the east bank of the river is Rudaki Park, named for the classical poet. A statue of him stands under an ornate mosaic arch. Nearby is a massive Tajik flag, flying from a towering flagpole. The ancient Tajik warrior Ismoili Somoni is commemorated with a statue and gilded arch. Archaeological finds are displayed at the National Museum of Tajikistan
Hissar mountains
Gissar Mountains is the unique territorial natural complex, which represents all the variety of ecosystems of western extremity of the Pamir-Alay mountain range. All the distinctive and rare representatives of flora and fauna of this region were preserved here. Geological outcroppings are unique for Eurasia and international stratigraphic standard as well.
Iskanderkul Lake
Iskanderkul is a mountain lake of glacial origin in Tajikistan's Sughd Province. It lies at an altitude of 2,195 metres on the northern slopes of the Gissar Range in the Fann Mountains. Triangular in shape, it has a surface area of 3.4 square kilometres and is up to 72 metres deep.
