Highlights

Ban Kwan Chang Elephant Camp
Ban Kwan Chang, generally considered to be the best elephant trekking camp on Koh Chang, is located in Klong Son at the end the narrow road that leads to the waterfall, Klong Jao Leuam. The Ban Kwan Chang camp was established to give threatened elephants from mainland Thailand a sanctuary, as many working elephants were being displaced by loss of their natural habitat and loss of their employment as working elephants
Koh Chang
The island Koh Chang occupies most of the Koh Chang district's land area, along with several smaller islands. With an area of 210 km2, Koh Chang is the third-largest island in Thailand by area, after Phuket and Ko Samui. The name Koh Chang means 'Elephant Island' and derives from its elephant-shaped headland. Despite the presence of elephants on the island, they are not indigenous. At present, there are eight villages on the island. Koh Chang is part of an archipelago of 52 islands. It is approximately 30 km long by 14 km, wide. It is part of the Mu Ko Chang National Park, which covers an area of 650 km2, of which 70 percent is offshore.
