Afternoon tour from Zhengzhou to Kaifeng

In central Kaifeng City, there is a big park called Dragon Pavilion Park (Long Ting Gong Yuan). It is said that it was a temple for worshipping the emperor of the Qing Empire. The original base was built in 1692, but the wooden structure on top was probably refurbished if not reconstructed more recently because Kaifeng suffered several periods of major devastation since then from flooding and wars. The red base and especially the white stairway leading up to it is reminiscent of a Central American or Mexican stepped pyramid. It is said that the current park sits on the site of the imperial palaces of 6 different empires. The last dynasty with a palace here was that of the Jin Empire (1115-1234). Other then the building, the main attractions are the big ponds, a Song Dynasty wax museum, and a flower show.

With a history of over 2,700 years, Kaifeng is a city with great historic and cultural significance being the most important metropolis in the world at the peak of its glory. It is famous for being one of the seven ancient capitals of China. The main examples of architecture in Millennium City Park are City Gate Tower, Rainbow Bridge, Street Scenes, distinctive shops, riversides, docks, ships, and so on. The whole park is arranged exactly like the original layout of Riverside Scene in the Song Dynasty. People can see the Jiu Lou ('wine buildings', like restaurants today), teahouses, pawnshops, and the manufacture of Kaifeng embroidery, mandarin porcelain, new year pictures, and so on.

Daxiangguo Temple is a famous Chinese Buddhist Temple in Kaifeng in eastern Henan province, People's Republic of China. It locates in the center of Kaifeng City. It played a key role of development of Chinese Buddhism. The views of the temple earned many honors, include "Ten Miracles of Chinese Temple", "Eight sights of Bianliang", "Xiangguo Frosty Bells" is also one the most famous view of this temple. It is also considered as the top ten famous temple in China. A famous computer game Moonlight Blade Online created by Tencent Games recognize this temple. It was first built in 555 A.D., the sixth year during Emperor Wenxuan's reign of the Northern Qi period and it was named "Xiangguo Temple".
