Beautiful Huangguoshu Waterfall tour from Guiyang

Guiyang is situated in the central part of Guizhou on the Nanming River, a headstream of the Wu River, which eventually joins the Yangtze River (Chang Jiang) at Fuling in Chongqing municipality. Guiyang is a natural route centre, with comparatively easy access northward to both Chongqing and Sichuan province and northeast to Hunan province. The city is the cultural centre of Guizhou province and has a number of colleges and universities. Guiyang is a marvelous tourist site with beautiful scenery. Contributed by its pleasant climate, Guiyang is reputed to be "the Capital of Summer Resorts in China”. Apart from the world-famous Huangguoshu Waterfall and Qianling Mountain, renowned for being “the First Mountain in Southern Guizhou”, scenic spots such as Jiaxiu Pavilion, Tianhetan and Nanjiang Grand Canyon etc. are also as attractive as a gleaming gem. Huangguoshu Waterfall, a milky way in miniature, is the largest waterfall in Asia. Seventy-four meters (243 feet) high and eighty-one meters (266 feet) wide, it is a scenic marvel in Anshun. Do not miss it if you are in Guizhou Province. Huangguoshu is the best known of some 18 in a cluster of waterfalls. Its flow is seasonally adjusted. A reservoir behind the waterfall holds back some of the water. Doupotang Waterfall, one kilometer (less than one mile) up the river to Huangguoshu Waterfall, at 105 meters (344 feet) across is the widest. It is 21 meters (69 feet) high. Other waterfalls like LuosiTan Waterfall, Silver-Chain Waterfall and Dishuitan Waterfall all have their distinct features.

Tianxingqiao is located six kilometers away from a famous waterfall - Huangguoshu Waterfall. It consists of three adjoining scenic areas: Tianxingpeng area, Tianxingdong area, and the Stone Forest area above water. The most distinguished character of the scenic area is its abundance in water, rocks, forests and caves. The first scenic area Tianxingpeng is actually a stone forest above the water covering an area of 0.19 square kilometers, with natural rocks of different sizes and shapes. There are winding stone paths zigzagging through the rocky hills. If you walk on the path, you will find yourself surrounded by fantastic stones in different shapes and almost lose yourself in the labyrinth. The Tianxingdong scenic area is actually a huge cave containing various stalagmites and stalactites. Stalactite is icicle-shaped formation of lime hanging from the roof of a cave, formed by the steady dripping of water containing minerals, while stalagmite is formation of lime extending upwards like a pillar from the floor of a cave as water from a stalactite drips onto it.
