Highlights

"Beautiful Indonesia" Miniature Park
Taman Mini "Indonesia Indah" (TMII) (English: "Beautiful Indonesia" Miniature Park) is a culture-based recreational area located in East Jakarta, Indonesia. It is operated by Yayasan Harapan Kita, a foundation established by Siti Hartinah, the first lady during most of the New Order and wife of Suharto, and still run by Suharto's descendants since his death. It has an area of about 100 hectares. The park is a synopsis of Indonesian culture, with virtually all aspects of daily life in Indonesia's 26 (in 1975) provinces encapsulated in separate pavilions with the collections of Rumah adat as the example of Indonesian vernacular architecture, clothing, dances, and traditions are all depicted impeccably. Apart from that, there is a lake with a miniature of the archipelago in the middle of it, cable cars, museums, Keong Emas Imax cinema, a theater called the Theatre of My Homeland (Theater Tanah Airku) and other recreational facilities which make TMII one of the most popular tourist destinations in the city.
Bogor
Bogor is a city in the West Java province, Indonesia. Located around 60 kilometers south of the national capital of Jakarta, Bogor is the 6th largest city in the Jakarta metropolitan area and the 14th nationwide. Bogor is an important economic, scientific, cultural and tourist center, as well as a mountain resort. In the Middle Ages, the city served as the capital of the Sunda Kingdom (Indonesian: Kerajaan Sunda) and was called Pakuan Pajajaran or Dayeuh Pakuan. During the Dutch colonial era, it was named Buitenzorg (meaning "Without worries" in Dutch) and served as the summer residence of the Governor-General of Dutch East Indies. With several hundred thousand people living in an area of about 20 km2, the central part of Bogor is one of the world's most densely populated areas. The city has a presidential palace and a botanical garden – one of the oldest and largest in the world. It bears the nickname "the Rain City" (Kota Hujan), because of frequent rain showers. It nearly always rains even during the dry season.
Bogor Botanical Garden
The Bogor Botanical Gardens is a botanical garden located in Bogor, Indonesia, 60 km south of central Jakarta. It is currently operated by the Indonesian Institute of Sciences. The Garden is located in the city center and adjoins the presidential palace compound of Istana Bogor. It covers an area of 87 hectares and contains 13,983 different kinds of trees and plants of various origins. The geographic position of Bogor means it rains almost daily, even in the dry season. This makes the Garden an advantageous location for the cultivation of tropical plants. Founded in 1817 by the order of the government of the Dutch East Indies, the Garden thrived under the leadership of many renowned botanists including Johannes Elias Teijsmann, Rudolph Herman Christiaan Carel Scheffer, and Melchior Treub. Since its foundation, Bogor Botanical garden has served as a major research center for agriculture and horticulture. It is the oldest botanical garden in Southeast Asia.
Indonesia Museum
The Indonesia Museum is an anthropology and ethnological museum located in Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), Jakarta, Indonesia. The museum is concentrated on arts and cultures of various ethnic groups that inhabit the Indonesian archipelago and formed the modern nation of Indonesia. The museum is a richly decorated building in Balinese architecture. The museum boasts a comprehensive collection consisting of over 1,000 pieces of traditional and contemporary Indonesian arts, crafts and traditional costumes from the different regions of the nation.
Jakarta
Jakarta, officially the Special Capital Region of Jakarta, is the capital and largest city of Indonesia. On the northwest coast of the world's most populous island of Java, it is the center of the economy, culture and politics of Indonesia. Jakarta's business opportunities, as well as its potential to offer a higher standard of living, have attracted migrants from across the Indonesian archipelago, making it a melting pot of numerous cultures. Jakarta is nicknamed the "Big Durian", the thorny strongly-odored fruit native to the region, seen as the Indonesian equivalent of the "Big Apple" (New York City).
