Civitavecchia
Civitavecchia is a city and comune of the Metropolitan City of Rome in the central Italian region of Lazio. A seaport on the Tyrrhenian Sea, it is located 60 kilometers (37 miles) west-north-west of the center of Rome. The harbor is formed by two piers and a breakwater, on which stands a lighthouse. Civitavecchia had a population of around 53,000 as of 2015.
Civitavecchia Market
Civitavecchia Market, also known as San Lorenzo Market is located in the heart of the historic center, around Piazza Regina Margherita. It is here where every morning citizens come to buy fresh food products, such as fruit and vegetables, as well as to the well-known and blooming Fishmarket, the flagship of the city.
Piazza Leandra
Piazza Leandra, the oldest square in the city, owes its name to an old legend whose main character is an old sailor called Leandro. Legend says that his words persuaded the inhabitants to go back to the sea to found again the old Centumcellae after the Saracen invasion. In the center of the square, between two old buildings, there is a Medieval fountain turned on again in 2012.
