Bogor
Bogor is a city in the West Java province, Indonesia. Located around 60 kilometers south of the national capital of Jakarta, Bogor is the 6th largest city in the Jakarta metropolitan area and the 14th nationwide. Bogor is an important economic, scientific, cultural and tourist center, as well as a mountain resort. In the Middle Ages, the city served as the capital of the Sunda Kingdom (Indonesian: Kerajaan Sunda) and was called Pakuan Pajajaran or Dayeuh Pakuan. During the Dutch colonial era, it was named Buitenzorg (meaning "Without worries" in Dutch) and served as the summer residence of the Governor-General of Dutch East Indies. With several hundred thousand people living in an area of about 20 km2, the central part of Bogor is one of the world's most densely populated areas. The city has a presidential palace and a botanical garden – one of the oldest and largest in the world. It bears the nickname "the Rain City" (Kota Hujan), because of frequent rain showers. It nearly always rains even during the dry season.
Bogor Botanical Garden
The Bogor Botanical Gardens is a botanical garden located in Bogor, Indonesia, 60 km south of central Jakarta. It is currently operated by the Indonesian Institute of Sciences. The Garden is located in the city center and adjoins the presidential palace compound of Istana Bogor. It covers an area of 87 hectares and contains 13,983 different kinds of trees and plants of various origins. The geographic position of Bogor means it rains almost daily, even in the dry season. This makes the Garden an advantageous location for the cultivation of tropical plants. Founded in 1817 by the order of the government of the Dutch East Indies, the Garden thrived under the leadership of many renowned botanists including Johannes Elias Teijsmann, Rudolph Herman Christiaan Carel Scheffer, and Melchior Treub. Since its foundation, Bogor Botanical garden has served as a major research center for agriculture and horticulture. It is the oldest botanical garden in Southeast Asia.
Jakarta
Jakarta, officially the Special Capital Region of Jakarta, is the capital and largest city of Indonesia. On the northwest coast of the world's most populous island of Java, it is the center of the economy, culture and politics of Indonesia. Jakarta's business opportunities, as well as its potential to offer a higher standard of living, have attracted migrants from across the Indonesian archipelago, making it a melting pot of numerous cultures. Jakarta is nicknamed the "Big Durian", the thorny strongly-odored fruit native to the region, seen as the Indonesian equivalent of the "Big Apple" (New York City).
Pura Jagatkarta
Pura Parahyangan Agung Jagatkarta ("the perfect divine nature") or often referred to simply as Pura Jagatkarta is a Hindu temple of Nusantara located in Ciapus village, Tamansari subdistrict, Bogor Regency, West Java, Indonesia. Once completely built, Pura Jagatkarta became the largest temple in West Java and the second largest in Indonesia after Pura Besakih in Bali. A temple complex is a sacred place of worship, served as Pura Kahyangan Jagad, a type of pura that is located in the mountainous region, for Hindu Dharma devotees in the Greater Jakarta area. It is also considered as a sacred place to honor the Hyang (deified ancestral spirits) identified as King Siliwangi of Pakuan Pajajaran kingdom, an ancient Hindu kingdom that once stood in the Parahyangan area.
