Highlights

Bahama Village Market
Bahama Village is a 16-block area that began as a Bahamian neighborhood where chickens roamed freely. The chickens still roam and junkanoo beats can still be heard, but today you'll find the touristy outdoor Bahama Village Market with straw items, seashells and souvenirs and notable restaurants like Blue Heaven and Santiago's Bodega.
Duval Street
Duval Street, the undisputed "Main Street" of Key West, is the only place in the U.S. where one street allows you to walk from the Atlantic Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico. A citywide commitment to preserving the National Register of Historic Places single-largest collection of wooden structures has allowed Duval Street and the rest of Key West to transition from an economy based on maritime industries and Cuban travel during its earlier years to one now supported by entertainment, art, and tourism.
Fort East Martello Museum & Gardens
Constructed in 1862 during the Civil War, this brick fortress now serves as an excellent historical museum (the first in the Florida Keys) and art gallery. The vaulted brick ceilings and curved walls enhance the charm of an eclectic collection which highlights Key West's haunted past.
Key West
Key West, the southernmost point in the United States, is famous for watersports, lively nightlife, beaches, historic sites and its pastel, conch-style architechture. Duval Street, one of the most energetic strips of shops, bars and cafes anywhere, offers Sloppy Joe’s bar, a favorite Key West hangout of novelist Ernest Hemingway. And, for the more sober-minded, there's Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum. (Look for the celebrated six-toed cats). Walking tours of Key West are the best way to see the island's intriguing homes, courtyards and gardens. Start in the center of town at the Key West City Cemetery, which offers a glimpse of Key West's past and its offbeat sense of humor.
La Concha Hotel and Spa
La Concha Hotel & Spa was constructed during the “Roaring Twenties,” in which flappers, the radio, and the Art Deco movement defined the age. Florida's Key West began as a coral wonderland under the sea populated with marine life. Europeans would visit Key West as tourists and as a stop to fill up on fresh water for about 300 years. The island was not settled until Florida became part of United States territory in 1821. In 1926 developer Carl Aubuchon opened a luxury hotel in Key West - the first of its kind. The hotel was considered to be the height of elegance and modern convenience, boasting marble floors, private baths, luxurious décor, an elevator, and sweeping ocean views. La Concha Hotel & Spa has been host to many famous guests over the years, including literary legends and dignitaries like Ernest Hemingway, Tennessee Williams, and Harry Truman.
Mallory Square
Mallory Square has always been the hub of Key West’s social and commercial life from the time of the city’s beginning in the early 1820’s. It is where master wrecker Asa Tift’s ships’ laden goods from the shipwrecks would dock and then be stored in his warehouses on the waterfront. It is where the town folk would come to exchange news, gossip and shop. Fast forward a century-and-a-half and you will find that Mallory Square is still the center of Key West with restaurants, shops, theater, museums, live entertainment and the most spectacular sunsets to be found anywhere.
The most southern point in Continental USA
24 degrees 33 minutes north latitude and 81 degrees 45 minutes – it’s supposed to be the Key West southernmost point of the continental United States. Key West's southernmost point is located in an old Key West neighborhood, where residents sometimes stand in their yards and behold the passing humanity.
