Highlights

Izrael Poznanski Mausoleum
Izrael Kalman Poznański (1833 in Aleksandrów – 1900 in Łódź) was a Polish-Jewish businessman, textile magnate and philanthropist in Łódź, and the husband of Eleonora Hertz Poznańska. The mausoleum of Izrael and Eleonora Hertz Poznańscy on the New Jewish Cemetery has been described as "probably the largest Jewish grave monument in the world." The mausoleum and mosaic covering the inside of the dome were restored in 1993.
Lodz
Łódź is a city in central Poland, known as a former textile-manufacturing hub. Its Central Museum of Textiles displays 19th-century machinery, fabrics and handicrafts linked to the trade. Once a factory, the restored Manufaktura complex is now a lively culture and arts center. Nearby is the grand Poznanski Palace, home to the City Museum, with artwork and objects depicting the history of Łódź.
Lodz Ghetto
The Łódź Ghetto or Litzmannstadt Ghetto was a Nazi ghetto established by the German authorities for Polish Jews and Roma following the Invasion of Poland. It was the second-largest ghetto in all of German-occupied Europe after the Warsaw Ghetto.
Lodz Jewish Cemetery
The Łódź Jewish Cemetery, also known as the New Jewish Cemetery, was once the largest Jewish cemetery in Poland and one of the largest in the world. Located in the city of Łódź on Bracka Street, the necropolis was opened in 1892 and occupies around 44 hectares of land.
Lodz Reicher Synagogue
Reicher family synagogue is the only Lodz synagogue that has survived the war and is still open every day. The oldest surviving synagogue in the city was built between 1895 and 1900 by the Reicher family foundation and only survived the Second World War because it was used for storing salt. The war did unfortunately destroy the interior as well as an allegedly lovely Star of David stained-glass window. A plaque on the east wall commemorates the synagogue’s founder who starved to death in the Łódź Ghetto. The Nissenbaum and Lauder foundations renovated the shrine in 1989. Religious services are no longer held here, but can be attended at the synagogue on ul. Pomorska 18.
Radegast Train Station
Radogoszcz station is a historic railway station in Łódź, Poland. The station, which was originally built between 1926 and 1937, was used extensively during The Holocaust. It served as the Umschlagplatz for transporting Jews from the Łódź Ghetto to the extermination camps during Operation Reinhard.
