Highlights

German submarine U-995
U 995 is a German Type VII C / 41 U-boat used during World War II by the German Navy. In service since September 1943, he completed nine missions. At the end of the war the Norwegian Navy took possession of it. In 1965 it returned to Germany with official handover on October 2, 1971, and from March 13, 1972 it became a museum ship at the foot of the Laboe Naval Monument. The submarine is visited by around 350,000 people every year.
Holstenstraße
The Holstenstrasse in the state capital Kiel has had its name since 1525 and was originally a land route into central Holstein. It begins at the Alter Markt, the center of the old town, which is planned on a peninsula, and ends today at the main intersection at the Ziegelteich.
Kiel
Kiel is the city and the capital of Schleswig-Holstein Land (state), northern Germany. Kiel is a port on both sides of the Kiel Fjord, an inlet of the western Baltic Sea, and lies at the eastern end of the Kiel Canal.

The Botanical Garden of Kiel opened its gates to the public in 1985 but is also an academic facility of the Christian-Albrechts-University. Schifffahrtsmuseum (Kiel Maritime Museum)
Kiel Maritime Museum was established in 1978 in what had been the fish-auction hall in the Sartorikai area of the city. It shows the maritime history of Kiel.
St. Nikolai Church
St. Nikolai is the name of a Protestant parish and its church in Kiel, the capital of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is the town's oldest building, at the Alter Markt. It was dedicated to Saint Nicholas. In the 19th century, it was remodeled in Gothic Revival style. Destroyed in World War II, it was rebuilt with a simpler contemporary interior.
