Highlights

Auckland
Auckland is a large metropolitan city in the North Island of New Zealand. The most populous urban area in the country, Auckland has an urban population of about 1,440,600 (June 2019). It is located in the Auckland Region—the area governed by Auckland Council—which includes outlying rural areas and the islands of the Hauraki Gulf, resulting in a total population of 1,680,500. Auckland is a diverse, multicultural and cosmopolitan city, home to the largest Polynesian population in the world. The Māori-language name for Auckland is Tāmaki Makaurau, meaning "Tāmaki desired by many", in reference to the desirability of its natural resources and geography.

Itinerary

10:00

Our tour weaves together culture, history, landmarks, scenery and true ‘kiwiness’ that makes Auckland unique. An ideal tour for cruise ship passengers who are finishing their cruise in Auckland.

Parks and Gardens

Enjoy stunning views of Auckland City, its twin harbours and islands from the summit of extinct volcanoes Mount Eden and One Tree Hill. Stop for photos among cows and sheep in Cornwall Park with its volcanic craters, Maori history and giant Australian Fig trees.

Popular City Beaches and Suburbs

Auckland’s eastern beaches are popular with families, swimmers, joggers and walkers. They border the Waitemata Harbour, which is both our main port and also the main harbour for sailors and boaties.

We take you along Paratai Drive in the clifftop suburb of Orakei, one of Auckland’s most expensive suburbs and affords beautiful views across the city, the harbour and the islands of the Hauraki Gulf. Then enjoy more harbour views as we follow the tree lined waterfront drive to Auckland’s best inner city beaches and viewpoints.

Take a walk on the beach when we stop for lunch beneath the trees of historic Mission Bay. This is a chance to sample Fish and Chips at the Fish Pot Cafe or choose from a number of other waterfront cafes and restaurants. (meals at own cost) After lunch we make a photo stop at Achilles Point with views of the city, the harbour and the nearby islands.

Auckland Museum and City Landmarks

We head back to the city through historic Parnell with its designer shops, restaurants and galleries, past the Holy Trinity Cathedral to the Auckland Domain and Museum. The Domain is one of Auckland’s oldest parks with features that remind us of our colonial roots – a bandstand, glasshouses, cricket ground and sports fields in a natural volcanic basin and exotic trees planted by the early settlers. The domain also holds Auckland’s War Memorial Museum, with its Polynesian, Maori and settler exhibits. We take a brief trip across the Harbour Bridge to Auckland’s North Shore and then back to the city with views of the City and Sky Tower to drive through Viaduct HarbourWesthaven Marina and the Wynyard Quarter.

After the tour we will drop you at Auckland Airport – domestic or international departures. Please advise flight details at the time of booking.
