Highlights

Huset under Gutenberg
The house under Gutenberg is located at 86 Piotrkowska Street in Łódź and is considered to be one of the most effective buildings on the street. In 1893, the printer and founder of Łódź's first newspaper, Jan Petersilge, bought a plot of land with existing buildings, where he decided to build a front house. The brick house was built in 1896 according to drawings by the architects Kazimierz Sokołowski and Francziszek Chełmiński. The building bears the marks of several historical styles - from Gothic to Mannerist architecture - and is a good example of eclecticism. The elevation is richly ornamented with leaves, flowers, winged figures, mascarons, Latin inscriptions and an owl. In the middle part of the building is a statue of Johann Gutenberg, and between the windows are medallions with portraits of other famous personalities related to the art of printing, such as Albrecht Dürer, Johann Fust, Peter Schöffer, Alois Senefelder, Johann Breitkopf, Charles Stanhope and Louis Daguerre. On the ground floor is "Światowid", which is one of the city's more recognizable bookstores.
Izrael Poznanski's Palace
The Izrael Poznański Palace is a 19th-century palace in Łódź, Poland. Initially the site of a tenement building, the property was transformed into a Neo-Renaissance and Neo-baroque style residence during the years 1888 to 1903.
Ksiezy Mlyn
Księży Młyn (English: Priest's Mill) is an area in the southern central part of the city of Łódź located in central Poland which consists of a group of textile factories (mainly cotton spinning mills) and associated facilities, built in Łódź since 1824. Since the first decade of the 21st century the area undergoes major renovation and contains Mixed-use development of offices and housing. This is one of the best implementations of this kind, not only in Poland but also in Europe. As a complex, it has been entered in the register of monuments, and efforts have been made for several years to make it a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Lodz
Łódź is a city in central Poland, known as a former textile-manufacturing hub. Its Central Museum of Textiles displays 19th-century machinery, fabrics and handicrafts linked to the trade. Once a factory, the restored Manufaktura complex is now a lively culture and arts center. Nearby is the grand Poznanski Palace, home to the City Museum, with artwork and objects depicting the history of Łódź.

Lodz Freedom square
Nice central square. Some lovely Elegant buildings and full of energy, hustle and bustle. The square is located at the beginning of the longest (4.9 km), central and most famous street in the city, Piotrkowska Street.
Lodz Hall of Fame
Found directly across from the Artur Rubenstein piano monument, look to the side lane named in his honour. Now look up at the mural to see a collection of Łódź's 'Hall of Fame' (Zasłużeni dla Łodzi). The work, unveiled in 2000, is the work of Krzysztof Jaśkiewicz, and the project was the brainchild of the city authorities and the local branch of Gazeta Wyborcza. The wall contains some big names, shortlisted from an initial 130, including Julian Tuwim, Józef Piłsudski and King Władysław Jagiełło. It also shows daily scenes of pre-war Łódź before the city's Jewish population was decimated.
Lodz Old Market Square
The oldest Lodz square is the Old Town market. The transformations that this fragment of Lodz has undergone are so vast it is now difficult to imagine not only the look of the medieval little town, but even the architecture from before World War II. The tract from Piotrkow to Leczyca and the local roads to Lutomiersk or Brzeziny used to pass across the market. Behind its southern front spread a mill pond, supplied by the Lodka rivulette. The houses, including the simple town hall used to be built of wood for centuries. In was only in the 19th c. that brick buildings were raised there, with simple Classicist decor.
Lodz Rose Passage
Rose Passage, mosaic glass building at Piotrkowska Street, City of Lodz, Poland. The author of the project is Joanna Rajkowska. In the view of the previous works of the author, the Rose Passage is an exceptional and personal project which is linked to the illness of her daughter, Rose. The execution of the project was very labor-intensive as it consisted in gluing small pieces of mirrors on the walls of the tenement house at 3 Piotrkowska St.
