Baku

Galarsan-Gorarsan fortress
Galarsan-Gorarsan is a fortress in Azerbaijan, built in the Middle Ages, ruins of which remain on the coast of the Kish River, about 4 kilometers from Shaki city, on the summit of Garatepe Mountain.
Juma Mosque of Shamakhi
Juma Mosque of Shamakhi or Juma Mosque of Shamakhi is a mosque in the city of Shamakhi, Azerbaijan. The construction date of the mosque- 743-744 relies on the research of a geological commission coming from Tiflis, which was led by prince Shahgulu Qajar. This date was defined with Arabic ligature on the facade of the Juma Mosque, stating the year 126 according to the Islamic calendar as the establishment year. Just in this period the construction of new religious buildings – mosques – was begun in the territory of Azerbaijan. The historical appearance of ancient Islamic architectural monuments was related to Arabs’ governance and the spreading of Islam in the territory of Azerbaijan. Juma Mosque of Shamakhi is considered the first mosque in the Caucasus after the cathedral Juma Mosque of Derbent, which was constructed in 734.
Kish village
Kish is a village and municipality in the Shaki Rayon of Azerbaijan. It is located approximately 5 km north of Sheki. The village is situated on the shore of the Kish river. The main part of the village surrounded by the mountains is located at the foot of Mount Tat.
Sheki
Sheki is a city in northwestern Azerbaijan, in the rayon of the same name. Sheki is in northern Azerbaijan on the southern part of the Greater Caucasus mountain range, 240 km from Baku.
Sheki Caravanserai
Caravanserai – is a historical monument in Sheki, a part of which is used as a hotel. The Swift development of trade in the Middle Ages enhanced the importance of caravanserai existing in the territory of Azerbaijan at that time and favored the construction of new ones. Generally, caravanserai were built in form of castles with one gate, closing of which made them impregnable during dangerous incidents. “Caravanserai” historical complex in Sheki is two magnificent caravanserai which reached present days and traditionally named “Yukhary” and “Ashaghy” caravanserai, which means “Upper” and “Lower” Caravanserai in translation from Azerbaijani into English. Construction of these caravanserai is dated back to the 18th-19th centuries AD.
The Palace of Sheki Khans
The Palace of Sheki Khans in Sheki, Azerbaijan was a summer residence for the Sheki Khans. It was built in 1797 by Muhammed Hasan Khan. The palace was intended to house the Khans who were in charge of controlling Sheki, as viceroys of the ruling Zand and later Qajar Persian dynasties somewhere between 1750 up until the time were these territories were annexed by the Russian Empire per the treaty of Gulistan in 1813 after the Russo-Persian War (1804–1813). The Palace of Sheki Khans was nominated for List of World Heritage Sites, UNESCO in 1998 by Gulnara Mehmandarova — president of Azerbaijan Committee of ICOMOS—International Council on Monuments and Sites. On 7 July 2019, the Historic Centre of Sheki with the Khan’s Palace was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
