Palawan Butterfly Ecological Garden and Tribal Village
Palawan Butterfly Ecological Garden and Tribal Village is located in Sta. Monica, Puerto Princesa City. This beautiful garden is a sanctuary of different butterfly species in Southeast Asia. This place is combination of the old and the new, the nature and people. All of unique and pure beauties of nature and people are here.
Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center
Crocodile Farm Palawan is now a Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center located 9 kilometers south of Puerto Princesa City. The place was formerly established as Crocodile Farm Institute in 1987 with the help of JICA-Japan International Cooperative Agency. The goal was to conserve two endangered crocodile species: Crocodilus porosus (freshwater crocs) and Crocodilus mindorensis (saltwater crocs).
Puerto Princesa
Puerto Princesa, officially the City of Puerto Princesa, is a 1st class highly urbanized city in Mimaropa (Region IV-B), Philippines. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 255,116 people. It is a city located in the western province of Palawan, and is the westernmost city in the Philippines. Though the seat of government and capital for the province, the city itself is one of 38 independent cities within the Philippines not controlled by the province in which it is geographically located and is therefore an independent area located within Palawan.
Puerto Princesa Baywalk
The City Baywalk is a long stretch of promenade, well paved walkway right beside the bay. It's Puerto Princesa's version of Manila Bay except perhaps this is more neat, the air is fresher, the water is cleaner. The kilometer or so cemented walkway is lined with palm trees, some flowers and lamp posts, benches and of course the view of the bay.
Roman Catholic Apostolic Vicariate of Puerto Princesa
The Apostolic Vicariate of Puerto Princesa is an Apostolic Vicariate in the Philippines. Within the Catholic Church hierarchy, it operates like a diocese and is headed by a titular bishop. Its episcopal see is the Immaculate Conception Cathedral-Parish in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. It is not a part of an ecclesiastical province as it is directly subject to the Holy See, yet for the purpose of apostolic cooperation usually grouped with the Archdiocese of Manila, along with the Roman Catholic Apostolic Vicariate of Taytay. The Catholic Church in the Philippines is organized into 72 dioceses in 16 Ecclesiastical Provinces, as well as 7 Apostolic Vicariates and a Military Ordinariate. The current bishop is Socrates Calamba Mesiona.
Special Battalion World War II Memorial Museum
“Special Battalion World War II Memorial Museum” was inaugurated by the family of local hero Dr. Higinio Mendoza Sr. Some of the museum pieces that are interesting to see are a historic typewriter and stenography machine, which Mendoza claimed was used by Gen. Douglas McArthur in Manila; old vehicles used during WWII; rusting guns and ammunition; uniforms of American soldiers who fought with the guerillas; miniature war planes and ships; and old paper denominations used during the war. On the wall are the names of 1,000 guerrillas who belonged to the Special Battalion and fought in the city and province during the Japanese occupation. The museum, which will collect P30 entrance fee for maintenance and care, also features a small library that holds a compilation of books and other reading materials about World War II.
