Highlights

Fludir
Flúðir is a small, picturesque village located in the municipality of Hrunamannahreppur in the Southern Region of Iceland. The village has the river Litla-Laxá running through it into the larger river of Hvítá, and it is overlooked by the mountain Miðfell. Being located near the ever-popular destinations Gullfoss and Geysir, both on the world-famous Golden Circle, the village and its surrounding area are known for being exceptionally green, plentiful and warm because of geothermal activity. The aforementioned rivers are awash with trout and salmon, and the village's surrounding farmlands are acclaimed for their cultivation of plants, meat and dairy. Flúðir has long been a favoured camping destination amongst Icelanders.
Hvítá
Hvíta is a glacier river in Arnessysla in South Iceland. It is one of the most popular rivers in Iceland for rafting, salmon fishing, and it is home to Iceland's most famous waterfall. The river has its source in Hvítarvatn, by the roots of Langjökull. Many tributaries join it as it travels towards the ocean, making Gullfoss waterfall, which lays on its course, mightily powerful. It can be seen in all seasons, with rainbows flying from its mists in summer and ice cladding the rocks around it in winter. Downstream from Gullfoss is the part of Hvíta that is most popular for kayaking, canoeing and rafting.
Stóra-Laxá
River Stora Laxa is a medium volume river originating in the south central highlands. The Stora Laxa is a hugely dramatic river for most of its length as the river ploughs through deep sheer canyons amidst some amazing cliff sculptures. River Stora Laxa is located approx 100 km east of Reykjavik.
Tungufellsdalur valley
Tungufellsdalur is a valley close to the farm Tungufell, which is a woody area with Icelandic birch. A small river Dalsá runs through the valley and another small river called Svartá creates a small canyon in the walley. It is possible to walk in the birch area on marked paths and the smell and the environment is wonderful. Further in the walley it is possible to walk to the famous waterfall Gullfoss but that takes about 30 minutes to walk there.
