Highlights

Jurmala
Jūrmala is a Latvian resort city on the Gulf of Riga, just west of the capital, Riga. It’s known for wooden, art nouveau seaside villas, Soviet-era sanatoriums and long, sandy Jūrmala Beach. Near the beach are the Dzintari Concert Hall complex, dating from the 1930s, and Dzintari Forest Park. On the banks of winding Lielupe River, the Jūrmala City Museum tells the history of the city through thousands of objects.
Old Town of Riga
The Old Town is the oldest section of Riga as well as the center of the city. It is the city’s most popular area with tourists. In 1997, Riga's historic center was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The Old Town has highly diverse architecture, and the majority of buildings have the status of a cultural monument. The city's architecture represents various periods - Romanticism, Gothic, Baroque, Classicism, and Modernism. After the restoration of the independence of Latvia, many buildings in the Old Town were reconstructed or rebuilt to restore the historic look of the area. The most impressive buildings in the Old Town are the Riga Cathedral and St. Peter's Church, offering a wonderful panoramic view on the city of Riga from a 72 meter observational tower.
Riga
The Gothic spires that dominate Riga's cityscape might suggest austerity, but it is the flamboyant art nouveau that forms the flesh and the spirit of this vibrant cosmopolitan city, the largest of all three Baltic capitals. Like all northerners, it is quiet and reserved on the outside, but there is some powerful chemistry going on inside its hip bars, modern art centres and the kitchens of its cool experimental restaurants.

Itinerary

10:00

The tour begins in the heart of Riga town – the Old town – and goes to the center of Jurmala city through soviet times’ districts and pine forests by bicycle route. When the destination has been reached you will have a chance to visit the open-air museum, explore cozy summer houses of different wooden architecture styles, climb up the sightseeing tower, wind shop the pedestrian street with small beautiful boutiques and cafes. The lunch will be set on the beachside, so you will have time to enjoy the breeze, sunshine and refresh yourself!

The way back goes by the same bicycle route. If you still feel very tired after a refreshing stay at the seaside, the train can be considered.

If you want to spend a great sunny day, cycling, breathing fresh pine and sea air, discovering places outside Riga, and visiting the only resort city in Latvia- no hesitations- this tour is for you!
