Highlights

Kampot
Kampot is a city on the Preaek Tuek Chhu River in southern Cambodia. It's known for its pepper plantations and salt fields. Many buildings date from the colonial period, including the Governor’s Mansion. The house is now the Kampot Museum, which has exhibits on the city’s history. To the west, Preah Monivong Bokor National Park has a cool climate with forests, waterfalls and wildlife including gibbons and big cats.
Kampot Old Market
Kampot's Old Market building, was constructed during the 1930s and has art-deco-style concrete facade. Various shops, travel agencies and cafes rim both sides of the building. Great place right in the riverside to sit, chill, have a drink and food. Its nicely decorated and feels classy.
Kampot Provincial Museum
Small gallery covering the region's past, including ancient archaeological artifacts.
Kampot Red Cross Building
Department of social services in Kampot, Cambodia
Kampot River
In 1889 French colonial census reports a multi-ethnic community: Kampot town consisted of "Cambodian Kampot" on the Prek-Kampot River and "Chinese Kampot" on the right riverbank of the west branch of the Prek-Thom River. Nearby was also a Vietnamese village, called Tien-Thanh and another Vietnamese village on Traeuy Koh Island. A Malay enclave also existed on Traeuy Koh Island. Additional villages of mixed ethnicity are listed.
