Itinerary

10:00

On the way, you will also witness the Widows Homes and the Anderson High School, both gifted by one of Shetland’s most famous personality Arthur Anderson, who was known also for investing in the Suez Canal and the founder member of the Pacific & Orient Shipping company which much later became the actual P&O.

Leaving Lerwick via the A970, you might get lucky to see some seals lying on the rocks at the slats!

On your journey, admire the Shetland ponies grazing as you’ll reach Fladdabister, an old traditional Shetland village inhabited 100 years ago by crofter fishermen, who scraped for a living from the land and sea.

The next stop is the viewpoint at Sandwick where one of the finest examples of Iron Age Round Towers, the Mousa Broch, is to be viewed in the distance.

Later you’ll be heading to the west coast and visit St Ninian’s Isle and relax comfortably as your driver enlightens you with their knowledge whilst admiring the fabulous sceneries traveling towards Scousburgh.

As you travel east, we will have plenty of time for some amazing photo opportunities!

On Mossy Hill, known for being a NATO secret station during the cold war, you’ll get the unique opportunity to glance at the fantastic views over St Ninian’s Isle, Bigton & Rerwick as well as a witness both the Northern Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.

Your final stop will enrich you with interesting cultural and historical notions as you visit the Croft House Museum, home to the Shetland’s traditions and way of life, conserving old furniture and agricultural tools once used daily up to World War II.
