Highlights

Coral Island Phuket
Coral Island, known locally as Koh Hae or Ko He, is a beautiful getaway destination around 3 km southeast of Phuket. The island has 2 main beaches: Long Beach and Banana Beach. Snorkelling off Banana Beach is a thrilling experience. If you go out far enough from Long Beach, you'll also have a lot to discover at its impressive coral reef. The island is beautifully calm at night but can get quite busy during the day. Peace and quiet can be found at the extremities of both beaches. You can rent deck chairs and sun loungers, but these usually come free for those on day tours. Coral Island Resort usually includes lunch with their day tours, though those who come on their own can easily find a restaurant on the island.
Maiton Island
Maiton Island (Maithon or Mai Ton) is a beautiful tropical island just off the east coast of Phuket. The island spans 2.5 km across at its widest point, with beautiful golden sands and palm trees, as well as pristine waters that are home to vibrant coral reefs. It's a very popular stop for cruises, particularly those leaving from Chalong Pier. While most boats can only stop nearby so that you can swim and snorkel in the sea, there are some tours offering buffet lunch right on the pristine beach. You can dive just off-shore to encounter sea turtles, cuttlefish, and many tropical sea life.
Phuket
Phuket is one of the southern provinces (changwat) of Thailand. It consists of the island of Phuket, the country's largest island, and another 32 smaller islands off its coast. It lies off the west coast of Thailand in the Andaman Sea. Phuket Island is connected by the Sarasin Bridge to Phang Nga Province to the north. The next nearest province is Krabi, to the east across Phang Nga Bay. Phuket Province has an area of 576 square kilometres (222 sq mi), somewhat less than that of Singapore, and is the second-smallest province of Thailand. The island was on one of the major trading routes between India and China, and was frequently mentioned in foreign ships' logs of Portuguese, French, Dutch, and English traders, but was never colonised by a European power. It formerly derived its wealth from tin and rubber and now from tourism.
Racha Yai Island
The Racha Islands (or Raya Islands) are best known as among the best diving and snorkelling destinations in Thailand. Located some 12 km south of Phuket, Racha Noi is uninhabited, but there's some great diving in the area. Racha Yai has several bungalows and resorts if you want to stay on the island for a day or more. Racha Yai reveals itself in splendid fashion, with most arrivals landing onto a strip of fine white sand tucked deep into the long, U-shaped main bay, called Ao Tawan Tok or Ao Bungalow. The waters are clear and excellent for snorkeling, though the bay gets quite busy with visiting boats in the afternoons. Racha Yai is home to The Racha, a splendid getaway resort. The other large bay, Ao Siam, is a pretty place that's great for peaceful strolls.
Siam Bay Racha Yai
Siam Bay is the northernmost bay of Racha Yai. This bay consists of rocky edges and the center bay area is sand covered with hard coral patches. There are a few man made monuments in the center of the bay depicting two elephants and a big temple gate guarded by a mythical giant sentry, known in Thai as Yak, who is believed to protect the gate from evil spirits. These statues are situated between 18 and 20 metres and should be the dropping point for the start of the dive. They are marked by a mooring line and should be relatively easy to locate.
