Highlights

Baku
Baku is the capital and largest city of Azerbaijan, as well as the largest city on the Caspian Sea and of the Caucasus region. Baku is located 28 metres below sea level, which makes it the lowest lying national capital in the world and also the largest city in the world located below sea level. Baku lies on the southern shore of the Absheron Peninsula, alongside the Bay of Baku.
Dashkasan
Dashkasan is a city and municipality in and the capital of the Dashkasan Rayon of modern Azerbaijan. It has a population of 10,801. The municipality consists of the city of Dashkasan and the village of Alunitdağ.
Dashkasan Caves
Dashkasan Caves is a three cave complex located south-east of Soltaniyeh. Outside the caves, there is a temple called Dragon Stone of Dash Kasan Caves which was built by the order of Mongol king Öljaitü in the early fourteenth century. The temple was built by four Chinese craftsmen. The architecture of Dash Kasan caves looks like an incomplete rectangle.
Ganja
Ganja is Azerbaijan's second-largest city, with a population of around 332,600. It was named Elisabethpol in the Russian Empire period. The city regained its original name, Ganja, in 1920 during the first part of its incorporation into the Soviet Union. However, its name was changed again in 1935 to Kirovabad and retained that name through most of the rest of the Soviet period. In 1989, during perestroika, the city regained its original name.
Goygol Lake
Goygol (Azerbaijani: Göygöl, literally "the Blue Lake") is a natural impounded lake in Azerbaijan. It is situated at the footsteps of Murovdag, not far from Ganja. Due to an earthquake that hit the area on 25 September 1139, parts of the Kapaz Mount collapsed and blocked the path of the Kürəkçay River. As a result of the diversion of water flow, a lake with pure mountain water was created, hence the name given signifying the pureness of the water. The nearby city of Khanlar was renamed after the Göygöl Lake on 25 April 2008. The city founded as Helenendorf by first German settlers in Azerbaijan in 1819 and with considerable German minority until 1941 had been renamed to Khanlar in 1938. In 1941, German settlers were relocated by Soviet authorities to Kazakhstan and their homes were filled by Armenians by orders of Anastas Mikoyan. In 1925 the lake was incorporated into the newly founded "Goy Gol State Reserve" which was superseded as Göygöl National Park in 2008.
Goygol National Park
Göygöl National Park — is a national park of Azerbaijan. It was established by the decree of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, in an area in Goygol Rayon administrative district on April 1, 2008, on the basis of the former "Goy Gol State Reserve" that was established in 1925 and which it superseded, on a surface area of 12,755 hectares (127.55 km2). It was enlarged from 6,739 hectares (67.39 km2) of the former state reserve to its current surface area as a national park. most beautiful and cleanest lakes in Azerbaijan, Lake Göygöl. The reserve is intended to protect the natural ecosystem of the subalpine zones of the northern slopes of the Lesser Caucasus. During the Soviet era, it had been deprived of its reserve status but was restored later.
Imamzadeh Mausoleum
Imamzadeh Mausoleum or Goy Imam Mosque is located 7 km northward to Ganja. It consists of a complex including walls with entrances, small mosques, and funerary monuments. The mausoleum, located inside the mosque, bears the grave of one of the sons of Imam Muhammad al-Baqir, the fifth Imam of Shi'a Muslims.
Juma Mosque of Ganja
Juma Mosque of Ganja or Friday Mosque of Ganja is a mosque located in the center of Ganja, Azerbaijan. The mosque was built in 1606, according to a project by Sheykh Baheddin Mohammad Amili. The mosque is also often called “Shah Abbas Mosque” because it was built on the instructions of Shah Abbas the Great during his reign. In 1776, two minarets were attached to the mosque. The mosque was built of red brick, which was traditional for Ganja. There was functioned a madrasah at the mosque for a long time, where the eminent Azerbaijani poet and scientist Mirza Shafi Vazeh taught at that time.
Mingachevir
Mingachevir is the fourth-largest city in Azerbaijan with a population of about 104,500. It is known as the city of lights because of its hydroelectric power station on the Kur River, which splits the city in half. The area has been settled for thousands of years, but the current city was founded in 1948, partly by German soldiers who were taken prisoner during World War II. Mingechevir is also home to Mingachevir Polytechnic Institute. The city forms an administrative division of Azerbaijan. The district is located 323 km from Baku and 17 km from the Baku-Tbilisi railway. Geographically, the region is located in the center of the republic on both sides of the Kura river.
Naftalan
Naftalan is a city in Azerbaijan, surrounded by the rayon of Goranboy. It is located on an agricultural plain near the Lesser Caucasus Mountains. The word naftalan also means a petroleum product that can be obtained there. It is the center of the unique petroleum industry, with a grade of oil referred to as "Naftalan".
The Nizami Mausoleum
The Nizami Mausoleum, built in honor of the 12th-century Persian poet Nizami Ganjavi, stands just outside the city of Ganja, Azerbaijan. The mausoleum was originally built in 1947 in place of an old collapsed mausoleum and rebuilt in its present form in 1991.

Itinerary

Day 1: Naftalan transfer from Baku

The driver will pick you up at the hotel you are staying in Baku or at the airport in Baku.

You will check-in at the hotel and have an appointment with a doctor who will prescribe treatment for your health condition.

Then you will have lunch and free time to relax.

 

Day 2: Naftalan city tour

In the morning you will have breakfast and naphthalene oil treatment.

After lunch, the guide will pick you up at the hotel and take you to Naftalan. You will explore the city, its history, and how the unique petroleum industry developed.

When the tour finishes, the guide will take you back to the hotel.

Day 3: Mingachevir tour

In the afternoon you will meet your guide at the lobby of the hotel.

The guide will take you to Mingachevir city. The city is famous for its hydroelectric power plant, in connection with the construction of which a modern city was built in the middle of the last century.

Despite its young age, the city has a rich history. On the site of Mingachevir, several thousand years ago there was a settlement that was an important shopping center.

Day 4: Ganja tour

On the fourth day of the relaxing and informative tour, you will explore the second-largest city of Azerbaijan – Ganja.

The city has an interesting history that began in the 9th century.

Ganja played an important role in the history and life of the country. The city was home to a large number of artisans who created clay products, ceramic dishes, jewelry, and carpets.

During this tour, you will plunge into the history of the city and visit its most significant sites:  Shah Abbas mosque, Nizami Ganjavi mausoleum, Caravanserai, Park “Khan Bagi”, Imamzadeh complex and others.

Day 5: Goygol National Park tour

After the naftalan therapy and hearty lunch, you will be waiting for a trip to a place of incredible beauty.

The guide will head you towards the stunning Goygol National Park. You will admire the fantastic landscapes of the park and its pearl – Goygol Lake.

The crystal-clear water of the lake, emerald-green forests and picturesque mountains will not leave you indifferent.

When the tour ends, the guide will drop you off to the hotel.

Day 6: Dashkesan Region tour

In the afternoon of the sixth day, the guide will drive you to the Dashkesan Region.

Dashkesan Region was famous for its beautiful pastures and in modern history it became the largest mining region in the Caucasus.

You will visit the unique cave complex including the fantastic Dashkasan Temple built by Chinese craftsmen.

During this tour, you will admire the scenic hills and mountains and learn more about the history of this rich region.

In the evening the guide will drop you off to the hotel.

 

Day 7: Free day

On the seventh day, you will have free time without the therapy and excursions.

You can stay at Naftalan and have a rest there or ask your guide for advice on what to visit in Azerbaijan yourselves.

Day 8: Departure to Baku

After breakfast, you will check out from the hotel and meet the driver in the lobby.

The driver will take you to Baku or Baku airport.
