Highlights

Lake Taihu
Taihu also known as Lake Tai or Lake Taihu, is a lake in the Yangtze Delta and one of the largest freshwater lakes in China. The lake lies in Jiangsu province and significant part of its southern shore forms its border with Zhejiang. It is the third-largest freshwater lake entirely in China, after Poyang and Dongting. The lake holds about 90 islands, ranging in size from a few square meters to several square kilometers. Lake Tai is linked to the renowned Grand Canal and is the origin of a number of rivers, including Suzhou Creek.
Nanchang Street
Nanchang Street is a famous ancient street in Wuxi which has now been renovated to be elegant, unique and integrated with various elements. Watching the fashion life on the “water lane” and the traditional street, you may be full of expectations for the slow but fashionable life in Wuxi. The appearance of Nanchang Street shows the quietness and peace of the waterside towns in the regions south of the Yangtze River. However, walking into it, you will feel the enthusiasm and passion of modern life through the red wines and tasty coffee. The combination of traditional and modern living has become a characteristic of the street.
Wuxi
Wuxi is one of the older cities in the Yangtze River (Chang Jiang) delta area. It was originally known as a source of tin, but, by the time the county was founded in 202 BCE, the deposits had been exhausted, and the county was named Wuxi (“Without Tin”). Wuxi has traditionally been a centre of the textile industry, being engaged in both cotton textiles and silk reeling. Present-day Wuxi is the one of the greatest silk-reeling centres in China. Cotton textile production is also important and is the city’s largest single industry. Other long-established industries include flour milling, rice polishing, and oil extraction. Industrial development has accelerated since the 1950s. Tourism has become increasingly important. Wuxi’s surroundings include many well-known scenic spots that have been carefully preserved, together with city parks and historic sites, and the national government has designated it as one of China’s historical and cultural cities.
