Mytilene town is the main town and port of the island of Lesvos, Greece. It is a big town with several neighbourhoods and beautiful suburbs. It is the commercial and economical centre of the island. The town is famous for its beauty and is full of superb mansions, colourful houses, squares, churches. This island is famous for producing the best ouzo of Greece and for being the land of the famous Greek female poet Sappho. From the first time, while the ferry approaches the port and the small statue of Liberty, you will feel amazed. Apart from its rich cultural background, the island of Lesvos has a lot to offer: amazing medieval and Ottoman architecture, impressive landscapes, beautiful beaches, nice thermal springs, many sea caves and a lush green nature. The architecture of the island has also many important structures to show, such as the buildings of the old port authority, the National Bank, Tarsi Hammam, numerous churches and two castles.

After disembarkation at the Mytilini harbor, your guide will show you the most important highlights of Lesbos. Enjoy a tour at the Medieval Castle of Mytilini, which is one of the strongest and largest castles of the Eastern Mediterranean.
After a guided tour, enjoy a scenic drive through the old town. Continue to a real gem: the picturesque village of Agiassos, possibly one of the most beautiful hill-town on Lesvos. Agiassos is famous for its potteries and wooden carvings that can be found in the numerous art shops, but not only: also it is known throughout Greece for the church to the Virgin Mary, the Panagia ti Vrefokratousa in the center of town. The church of Panagia, a major tourist attraction on the island, is a three-aisle basilica, surrounded by high walls since it was once a monastery.
In front of the iconostasis, on inclined support stands the miracle-working icon of Our Lady dating from the 4th century AD. It was brought to Agiassos from Jerusalem by the monk Aghathon the Ephesian. After a walking tour through this idyllic place there is waiting for something special for you: taste the many different kinds of cheese of Lesbos: Feta, Ladotiri, Gravier, and Kefalotiri.
