Highlights

Gateway of India
The Gateway of India is an arch-monument built in the early twentieth century in the city of Mumbai, in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It was erected to commemorate the landing in December 1911 at Apollo Bunder, Mumbai (then Bombay) of King-Emperor George V and Queen-Empress Mary, the first British monarch to visit India. At the time of the royal visit, the gateway was not yet built, and a cardboard structure greeted the monarch. The foundation stone was laid in March 1913 for a monument built in the Indo-Saracenic style, incorporating elements of 16th-century Marathi architecture. The final design of the monument by architect George Wittet was sanctioned only in 1914, and construction was completed in 1924. The structure is a triumphal arch made of basalt, which is 26 metres high.
Malabar Hill
Verdant Malabar Hill is an upscale residential area known for the Hanging Gardens, a hillside park with sea views and hedges sculpted into animal shapes. At the Walkeshwar temple complex, Banganga Tank is a sacred pool with 12th-century origins. Other sights include the ancient Babulnath Mandir temple, reached by climbing over 100 steps, and Babu Amichand Panalal Jain Temple, embellished with intricate carvings.
Mumbai
Mumbai is the capital city of the Indian state of Maharashtra. According to the United Nations, as of 2018, Mumbai is the most populous city in the country and the seventh-most populous city in the world with a population of roughly 20 million. As per the Indian government population census of 2011, Mumbai is the most populous city in India with an estimated city-proper population of 12.5 million living under Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai. Mumbai is the center of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, the sixth most populous metropolitan area in the world with a population of over 23 million. Mumbai lies on the Konkan coast on the west coast of India and has a deep natural harbor. In 2008, Mumbai was named an alpha world city. It has the highest number of millionaires and billionaires among all cities in India. Mumbai is home to three UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Elephanta Caves, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, and the city's distinctive ensemble of Victorian and Art Deco buildings.

Itinerary

10:00

Following on from this, you’ll then head on to the Flora Fountain before carrying on to Mumbai’s most famous monument, the Gateway of India! Built to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary, this colonial symbol ironically became an epitaph of sorts, as the last British Ships to leave when the Raj ended left from this point. Afterwards, you’ll then head on to visit the Prince of Wales museum, which boasts an impressive collection, including but not limited to, natural history artefacts, Indian miniature paintings and armoury and textile galleries! Next up is Nariman Point and the Marine Drive, before heading on to the Hanging Gardens, which perches at the top of the Malabar Hill.

From here, you’ll then head on to the Mani Bhawan, the old residence of Mahatma Gandhi! You’ll then finish off your wonderful tour with a visit to the Dhobigbat. Clearly, this tour is an absolutely superb opportunity, and not one to be missed under any circumstances! So, what are you waiting for?! Get booking now!
