Overview

On this half-day excursion, you will see two major tourist attractions of Busan. Your first stop will be the Beomeosa temple, one of the largest temples in all of Korea. It was founded in 678 AD by Great Monk Uisang. The temple is home to many ancient relics, each with its own unique and fascinating history. Don't be surprised to find yourself almost at peace with yourself as you step through the entrance of the temple, known as Ilchumun Gate. The One Pillar Gate indicates the boundary between the spiritual world of the temple and the secular world outside. There are several within the temple complex, including Pagodas and the main temple hall, so there will be plenty of time to explore this historical site.

Highlights

Beomeosa Temple
Beomeosa is a head temple of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism in Cheongnyong-dong, Geumjeong-gu, Busan, South Korea. Built on the slopes of Geumjeongsan, it is one of the country's best known urban temples.
Busan
Busan, formerly romanized as Pusan and now officially Busan Metropolitan City, is South Korea's second-most populous city after Seoul, with a population of over 3.5 million inhabitants. It is the economic, cultural and educational center of southeastern South Korea, with its port—Korea's busiest and the fifth-busiest in the world [a]—only about 190 kilometers (120 mi) from the Japanese islands of Kyushu and Honshu. The surrounding "Southeast Economic Zone" (including Ulsan and South Gyeongsang) is South Korea's largest industrial area.
