Highlights

Casablanca
Casablanca is a port city and commercial hub in western Morocco, fronting the Atlantic Ocean. The city's French colonial legacy is seen in its downtown Mauresque architecture, a blend of Moorish style and European art deco. Standing partly over the water, the enormous Hassan II Mosque, completed in 1993, has a 210m minaret topped with lasers directed toward Mecca.
Hassan 11 Mosque
The Hassan II Mosque is a mosque in Casablanca, Morocco. It is the second largest functioning mosque in Africa and is the 7th largest in the world. Its minaret is the world's second tallest minaret at 210 metres.
Mellah
The narrow alleys of Mellah were once home to the city's Jewish population, as seen in landmarks like the Lazama Synagogue, with its tiled courtyard and exhibits on Jewish life, and the tranquil Miaara Jewish cemetery. Nearby are the lively Mellah Market, with meat and produce, and Bab Mellah Spice Souk. European-style cafes, upscale Moroccan restaurants and stalls selling grilled meats and tajines dot the area,
Museum of Moroccan Judaism
The Museum of Moroccan Judaism is a Jewish museum in the Oasis neighborhood of Casablanca, Morocco. Established in 1997, it is the only museum devoted to Judaism in the Arab world. The museum, whose building originated in 1948 as a Jewish orphanage that housed up to 160 Jewish youth, was renovated in 2013.

Itinerary

10:00

Casablanca has the largest Jewish community in Morocco and has numerous congregations, active communal institutions, and many highly recommended kosher restaurants.

Next up is a visit to the Mellah (Jewish quarter) with its temples and synagogues such as Bet-El, Em Habanim, and Neve Shalom. The Jewish cemetery in the Mellah is open and quiet, with well-kept white stone markers in French, Hebrew, and Spanish. Once a year, Casablancas celebrate Hiloula, a prayer festival, at the tomb of the Jewish prophet Eliahou.

The next stop is a visit to the Museum of Moroccan Judaism exhibiting religious, ethnographic, and artistic objects that demonstrate the history, religion, traditions, and daily lives of Jews in Morocco. Take some time to nourish yourself at a culinary pit-stop at the Kosher Cercle de L’Alliance, one of the most significant restaurants for the Casablanca Jewish community.

The last section of the tour covers the Hassan II Mosque, the 3rd largest Mosque in the world looking out to the Atlantic Ocean. Cap the day off with a visit to the Habous Market and explore local crafts and woodwork traditions.

At the end of the tour, you will be returned back to the port plenty of time before your ship departure or your accommodation in Casablanca.
