This tour begins with an introduction from your experienced tour guide before heading to the Panama Canal where you will visit the Aguas Claras Locks, these were considered one of the greatest engineering successes ever when they were completed and they are certainly an impressive sight. There is a Visitor center here at which more can be learned about this modern wonder of the world.

We will then take lunch and continue afterward to Portobelo for a trip into its past. You will hear all about how it was terrorized by pirates to the extent where the townsfolk had to defend it using large arrays of cannons, the reason it was such a popular target for pirates was the fact that it was an important silver exporting city.
The tour will also take in the Portobelo church which contains the “Black Christ” which is a symbol of their Christianity and you will also visit the customs offices where treasures would be stored in days gone by.
