Overview

Antalya is in the Mediterranean region, and is an attractive city with shady palm-lined boulevards, with a prize-winning marina on the Mediterranean. In the picturesque old quarter, Kaleici, narrow winding streets, and old wooden houses abut the ancient city walls. The region around Antalya offers sights of astonishing natural beauty as well as historical remains. You can walk behind the cascade, at the Upper Düden Waterfalls, at the Lower Düden Waterfalls plunge straight into the sea. The Kursunlu Waterfalls and Nilüfer Lake, are two more places of superb natural beauty. Konyaalti Beach offers a view of the breathtaking Taurus mountain range. On the eastern side of Can Mountain, the Karain Cave, which dates from the Paleolithic Age (50,000 BC) is the site of the oldest settlement in Turkey.  The ruins of the city of Termessos, are perched on a 1050 meter high plateau on the west face of Güllük Mountain. The Archaeological Museum, with remains from the Paleolithic Age to Ottoman times, offers a glimpse of the area's rich history.

Highlights

Duden Falls
Düden Waterfalls are a group of waterfalls in the province of Antalya, Turkey. The waterfalls, formed by the recycle station water, are located 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) northeast of Antalya. They end where the waters of the Lower Düden Falls drop off a rocky cliff directly into the Mediterranean Sea. A group of Düden Waterfalls consists of two waterfalls, Upper Düden Waterfalls and Lower Düden Waterfalls.
Termessos
Termessos was a Pisidian city built at an altitude of more than 1000 metres at the south-west side of the mountain Solymos (modern-day Güllük Dağı) in the Taurus Mountains (modern-day Antalya province, Turkey). It lies 17 kilometres to the north-west of Antalya. It was founded on a natural platform on top of Güllük Dağı, soaring to a height of 1,665 metres from among the surrounding travertine mountains of Antalya. Concealed by pine forests and with a peaceful and untouched appearance, the site has a more distinct and impressive atmosphere than many other ancient cities. Termessos is one of the best preserved of the ancient cities of Turkey. The city was founded by the Solims, who were mentioned by Homer in the Iliad in connection with the legend of Bellerophon. Because of its natural and historical riches, the city has been included in a national park bearing its name, the Mount Güllük-Termessos National Park.

Itinerary

09:00

Your first stop will be the ruins of Termessos. This ancient Pisidian city is set high in the Taurus mountains, at an altitude of more than 1000 meters, on the natural plateau of Gulluk Dagi. Mythology says that the city was founded by the Greek hero, Bellerophon, known for defeating Chimera. Without considering the legends, it is true that the modern Termessos is one of the best-preserved of the ancient cities of Turkey.

You will approach the city via the steep main road, through the famous Yenice pass, into the town’s fine main square, with its impressive ancient theatre and stunning views across the Pamphylian plain. Explore the Odeon, temples, cemeteries, and houses from the Hellenic and Roman periods.

Your journey back down the mountain takes you through the beautiful landscapes of the Termessos National Park, where dense pine forests and rare wild plants frame the rugged landscape.

Finally, you will discover Duden Falls, where the mountain streams that have shared your journey down from the peaks reach the Mediterranean in a series of spectacular waterfalls falling from the rocky clifftops. A beautiful spectacle to end a fascinating day’s tour.
