Surrounded by narrow streets, the 11th-century Basilica di San Nicola, a key pilgrimage site, holds some of St. Nicholas’ remains. To the south, the Murat quarter has stately 19th-century architecture, a promenade and pedestrianized shopping areas.
Bari Castle
The Castello Svevo is a castle in the Apulian city of Bari, Italy. Built around 1132 by Norman King Roger II, it is currently used for exhibitions.
Basilica San Nicola
The Pontifical Basilica di San Nicola is a church in Bari, southern Italy that holds wide religious significance throughout Europe and the Christian world. The basilica is an important pilgrimage destination both for Roman Catholics and Orthodox Christians from Eastern Europe.

Itinerary

10:00

The history of Bari, which is made up of the several dominations that brought numerous civilizations to leave their traces within the architecture and culture of the city facing the Mediterranean sea, is still alive in every corner of the capital of Apulia. We offer you a unique opportunity to discover Bari through a pleasant walk in the heart of the town which has always been considered as the meeting point between Orient and the western culture. We will go back to the past simply by walking within the old city center, among the intricate narrow medieval side streets: here are most of the monuments of the Byzantine, Norman, and Frederick’s II time.

A famous landmark located in the Old Quarter of Bari Italy is San Nicola Basilica which reflects its use of strong traditions as its Patron Saint is Saint Nicholas.

Bari has two harbors, the Old Port and the New Port. The Old Port of Bari boasts luxury yachts and ships that often dock on the marina whereas the New Port accommodates all ships, including large cargo crafts.

Bari does not have many shopping malls but it is known for its street markets and boutique shops where we will have free time to explore during the tour before returning back to the cruise ship in plenty of time for your cruise ship’s departure.
