Following the coastal road and allowing you an opportunity to enjoy the view of the sea, the old salt ponds, the windmills, you will reach by coach (motor too) Marsala. The town originally named Lilibeo was founded by Carthaginians in 397 BC and was later renamed by the Arabs Mars-el-Allah (the port of God), from where the actual name Marsala.

It is a very important agricultural centre and the main centre to produce wines, among which the famous Marsala wine. Leave the bus at the parking lot in Marsala and proceed on foot for an orientation walking tour of the city centre. Your visit will start from Porta Garibaldi and work its way through the historical city centre. In the main square, Piazza Della Repubblica, you can admire the 17th century Palazzo Senatorio and the Cathedral dedicated to St. Thomas of Canterbury built in the 17th-18th centuries over a Norman building.
In the cathedral, you can see important works by Antonello Gagini. After the visit, you’ll re-board your motorcoach and reach one of the ancient Marsala wine producers for a visit to the winery and tasting before heading back to the cruise port.
