Istanbul

Sultanahmet Square
The Hippodrome of Constantinople was a circus that was the sporting and social centre of Constantinople, capital of the Byzantine Empire. Today it is a square named Sultanahmet Meydanı in the Turkish city of Istanbul, with a few fragments of the original structure surviving.
The Grand Bazaar
The Grand Bazaar in Istanbul is one of the largest and oldest covered markets in the world, with 61 covered streets and over 4,000 shops on a total area of 30,700 m², attracting between 250,000 and 400,000 visitors daily.
Topkapi Palace
The Topkapı Palace, or the Seraglio, is a large museum in the east of the Fatih district of Istanbul in Turkey. In the 15th and 16th centuries it served as the main residence and administrative headquarters of the Ottoman sultans.

The first stop will be at Hippodrome Square.  The Hippodrome Square used to host the many chariot races in years gone by and famous for the Byzantine riots during the Roman & Byzantine periods.

The Blue Mosque is the next piece of history to visit, sometimes known as the Sultanahmet Mosque which commands the Istanbul Skyline and is famous for its beautiful blue Iznik tiles.  The tour will continue walking to Topkapi Palace which was not only the residence of the Ottoman sultans but also the administrative and educational center of the state.

Constructed between 1460 and 1478 by Sultan Mehmed II, the Conqueror of Constantinople, the palace hosts treasury’s, Chinese porcelain, and a collection of weaponry.

At the end of the tour, you will be taken to the famous Grand Bizarre the worlds oldest and largest covered markets, with more than 58 covered streets, opened in 1461 and is well known for the variety of goods on offer, you will be able to spend some leisure time, purchasing souvenirs before being taken back to the ship.
