Private tour in Malta with Valletta and the Three Ctities
Valletta is the capital of Malta, a World Heritage site which is almost an open air museum. Valletta has welcomed emperors, heads of state, artists and poets and is now the permanent seat of the Maltese government. The grid of narrow streets boasts some of Europe's finest art works, churches and palaces.
Valletta is full of intriguing historical sites; there are many votive statues, niches, fountains and coats of arms high up on parapets. Narrow side streets are full of tiny quaint shops and cafés. The magnificent fortress city grew on the arid rock of Mount Sceberras peninsula, which rises steeply from two deep harbours, Marsamxett and Grand Harbour. Started in 1566, Valletta was completed, with its impressive bastions, forts and cathedral, in the astonishingly short time of 15 years. Ruled successively by the Phoenicians, Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs and the Order of the Knights of St John, it is one of the most concentrated historic areas in the world.

You will be met at the port and guided you to your air-conditioned transportation ready to commence your tour.
This tour will start with a trip to Valletta, Malta’s capital city, for a guided tour through the bustling streets. This unique city built for gentlemen by gentlemen was built after the Great Siege of 1565 and named after the Grand Master Jean Parisot de la Valletta.
In Valletta you will first stop at the Barrakka Gardens – built on the elevated bastion ramparts. These beautiful gardens commend stunning panoramic views of the Grand Harbour and the three cities.
During the tour you will also visit St. John´s Cathedral. This splendid church was originally the conventual church of the Order of St. John. With its fine Baroque architecture, elaborate Grand Masters’ monuments and exclusive precious works of art including a Caravaggio this cathedral is not to be missed.
After the Cathedral, you continue a walking tour to see from the outside the Grand Masters Palace – this Magisterial Palace was the official and private residence of the Grand Master of the Order. Today the Palace is the splendid residence of the President of Malta. Continue to walking tour in Valletta.
Afterwards, you will head to the Southern part of the island in order to discover the historical area known as the Three Cities: Vittoriosa, Cospicua & Senglea. A drive past Cospicua will bring you to Vittoriosa where you shall walk through the various narrow streets shaded by many historic buildings and churches. From the old quay you will get the opportunity to take a typical ‘fregatina’ for a tour of the famous harbour creeks (subject to weather conditions – price of fregatina not included in price). You will also see the quay where super yachts are docked.
At the end of the tour you will be dropped off at the port in plenty of time.
