Highlights

Christiansholm Fortress
Christiansholm Fortress was finished in 1672 and formed a part of King Christian IV's plan for the defense of Kristiansand when the city was founded in 1641. The architect of the fortress was quartermaster general Willem Coucheron. It was built on an islet, about 100 yards from shore. Today the fortress is connected to the mainland. The only time the fortress has been in battle was against an English fleet force, lead by HMS Spencer (1800) in 1807 during the Napoleonic Wars. It was decommissioned by royal decree during June 1872 as part of a major redevelopment of fortifications across the nation. Today, Christiansholm is a tourist attraction by the Kristiansand Boardwalk and venue for a variety of cultural events and festivities. It is now owned by the municipality and is a site used principally for recreation.
Fiskebrygga Fish Market
The lively fish pier, called Fiskebrygga, is an experience in itself! Fiskebrygga is a former fish landing in the city of Kristiansand in Vest-Agder county, Norway. The buildings have been redeveloped as a restaurant, shopping area, and tourist destination.
Kilden Performing Arts Centre
Kilden Performing Arts Centre is a theatre and concert hall on Odderøya in Kristiansand, Norway. It houses Kilden Teater, Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra (KSO) and Opera Sør in a joint project never previously embarked upon. There is room for a variety of concerts and other forms of cultural expression. The building is built and owned by the company "Kilden teater- og konserthus for Sørlandet IKS", and Kristiansand Municipality (80%) and Vest-Agder County (20%) are owners. The company was established in 2003 and the name Kilden (meaning "the source") specified in 2006.
Kristiansand
Kristiansand is the capital of Vest-Agder County, Norway. With 90,000 inhabitants, it is the fifth-largest city of Norway, and one of the southernmost ones. The city has had a cathedral since 1885, and a university since 2007. The city has many challenging offers for active tourists. There is always something to do for families, solo travelers, couples, business travelers, hikers, sea sports enthusiasts, or party enthusiasts. Kristiansand is the largest city in South Norway and is located between Oslo and Stavanger. Kristiansand is on Norway’s southern Skagerrak coast and has long been a favorite summer holiday spot amongst Norwegians. The sea and surrounding fjords are great for recreational activities like fishing and sailing. Kristiansand is the business city and the cultural capital of Southern Norway. Called “the coolest riviera” by the media, it is a modern city with a cosmopolitan history. The city is also nicknamed "Norway's flower town" because of the many planted flowers that characterize downtown. Kristiansand offers many attractions and sights, many are especially aimed at families with children.
Lindesnes Lighthouse
Lindesnes Lighthouse is a coastal lighthouse at the southernmost tip of Norway, about 10 kilometers (6.2 mi) southwest of the village of Høllen in Lindesnes municipality in Agder county. The present lighthouse was built in 1915, although the station was first built in 1656 to mark the entrance to the Skaggerak and the Baltic Sea from the North Sea. The current 16.1-metre (53 ft) tall lighthouse is cast iron with a granite foundation. The lighthouse is painted white, with a red top. The light sits at an elevation of 50.1 meters (164 ft) and it emits a fixed and flashing white light that is always on and it rotates between a low intensity and high intensity light every 20 seconds. The light comes from a first order Fresnel lens that can be seen for up to 17.7 nautical miles (32.8 km; 20.4 mi).
