Located on the Albanian Riviera, Saranda is an important tourist destination in Albania and is where most people visit whilst in Albania. The area of Saranda has a beautiful Mediterranean climate and is situated right on the coast, whilst here you can explore the city at your leisure, shop in the beautiful boutiques and souvenir shops and take home a souvenir or two!
You will take a visit to the archeological site of Butrinti, a UNESCO world heritage site. A scenic narrow road leads you to the ancient city of Butrint. Visit the Old Amphitheatre, the Temple of Aesculapius, the Baptistery with colorful mosaics, and the ancient city walls. An old fortress housing a small museum watches over the entire site, which is one of the last unspoiled natural and ancient historical areas in the Mediterranean.
On your way back to Saranda, you will stop in Ksamil for lunch (not included) where you can enjoy the view of three small islands in the Ionian Sea.
Just 2 kilometers of Saranda on a dominating hill is the castle of Lekursi. It was built by Sultan Suleiman during his campaign against Corfu. You will visit the Lekuresi Castle, time permitting you will have a chance to enjoy some leisure time and explore the beaches before heading back to port.
