Highlights

Stockholm
Sweden’s capital – a Nordic vision of waterways, parks and spire-filled skylines – is justifiably renowned as one of the most handsome cities in Europe. Spread over no less than fourteen islands and surrounded by literally thousands of smaller, rocky islets, it combines the drama and open skies of Scandinavia with the verve, dynamism and urban cool of Western Europe.
Stockholm Cathedral
Stockholm’s medieval Cathedral, built in 1279, houses unique objects such as the St George and the Dragon sculpture (1489), the legendary Vädersoltavlan (1535) and Lena Lervik’s sculpture ”Joseph and Mary” (2002). Since 1527, the Cathedral has been a Lutheran church. A wide range of religious services and concerts are held. The wedding of T.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel took place on Saturday, June 19, 2010, in Stockholm Cathedral.
Stockholm City Hall
The Stockholm City Hall is the building of the Municipal Council for the City of Stockholm in Sweden. It stands on the eastern tip of Kungsholmen island, next to Riddarfjärden's northern shore and facing the islands of Riddarholmen and Södermalm. It houses offices and conference rooms as well as ceremonial halls, and the luxury restaurant Stadshuskällaren. It is the venue of the Nobel Prize banquet and is one of Stockholm's major tourist attractions.
Stockholm Palace
Stockholm Palace or the Royal Palace is the official residence and major royal palace of the Swedish monarch (the actual residence of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia is at Drottningholm Palace). Stockholm Palace is on Stadsholmen, in Gamla stan in the capital, Stockholm. It neighbors the Riksdag building. The offices of the King, the other members of the Swedish Royal Family, and the Royal Court of Sweden are here. The palace is used for representative purposes by the King whilst performing his duties as the head of state.
Vasa museum
Located on the island of Djurgården, the Vasa Museum is one of the most visited museums in Scandinavia. It houses the almost-intact warship called Vasa that sank on its maiden voyage in the 17th century. Even if you find museums boring and uninteresting, a visit to the Vasa Museum will definitely be a deep and fulfilling experience! See the massive, well-preserved warship and learn more about the naval history of Sweden.

Itinerary

09:00

Your guided tour will start with a countryside drive (approx. 60km) through a landscape shaped during the latest ice age: rocks of granite and gneiss, lakes, stretches of pine, spruce, and birch – a forest where the elk is king.  And amidst all of that, here and there, farming land and traditional Swedish wooden houses painted red with white trims.

Upon arrival in Stockholm, you will continue with a highlight tour of this fascinating city often referred to as the ‘Venice of the North.  Stockholm enjoys a magnificent natural location. It is built upon 14 islands connected to each other and to the mainland by 57 bridges; a city with Lake Mälaren on the one side, whilst on the other, the Baltic Sea and the Stockholm Archipelago are stretching out far into the distance.

On our highlight tour of Stockholm, you will be passing the medieval Old Town, the Royal Palace, the Parliament buildings, the National Museum, the modern City Centre, the Royal Dramatic Theatre, and will be doing a scenic stop where you can view & photograph this  ‘Beauty on the Water’.

The tour will also take you to Royal Djurgården, the world’s first ‘National City Park’.  Here you will visit the Vasa Museum displaying the famous warship decorated with more than 700 sculptures once in bright colors and gilded.  The Vasa sank on its maiden voyage in 1628 & spent three centuries at the bottom of the Baltic Sea until she was found & raised.  An amazing story and an amazing ship.
