Highlights

Dadaocheng
In late 1880s, Dadaocheng started to prosper in light of the opening of Tamsui Harbor. It has since become the keystone of economic and cultural development. In Dadaocheng, you will see extravagant Baroque architecture, traditional Hokkien bungalows and brilliant red-brick western houses. Historical buildings, traditional folklore center, tea houses, fabric stores, Chinese pharmacy and local eateries alike are rich in history. A new everyday-aesthetics derives in the vintage neighborhoods of Dadaocheng where century-old stores meet with contemporary innovation.
Dihua Street
Dihua Street is a street located in Dadaocheng, Datong District, Taipei, Taiwan, winding from the south of the district to the north near Dalongdong. The street, then known as Centre Street, was constructed during the 1850s when many commercial entities belonging to Quanzhou-originating owners moved in from Bangka. Since then and throughout the rest of the 19th century, Dihua Street has been an important center for commerce in Taiwanese products and produce such as Chinese medicinal herbs, fabrics, incense materials, and for the post-processing of Taiwanese tea. Being the oldest street in Taipei (with sections in existence since the rule of Dutch Formosa from 1624–1661), its architecture has been under preservation and conservation efforts by the city.
Taipei
Taipei, officially Taipei City, is the capital and a special municipality of Taiwan (officially the Republic of China, ROC). Located in northern Taiwan, Taipei City is an enclave of the municipality of New Taipei City that sits about 25 km southwest of the northern port city of Keelung. Most of the city lies in the Taipei Basin, an ancient lakebed. The basin is bounded by the relatively narrow valleys of the Keelung and Xindian rivers, which join to form the Tamsui River along the city's western border.
Taipei Xia-Hai City God Temple
The Taipei Xia-Hai City God Temple is a temple dedicated to the City God in Taipei, Taiwan. The Xia-Hai City God Temple was built in 1859 and maintained by a single family to the present day. The Ministry of the Interior designated the site a historical monument in 1985. It is located on Dihua Street in Dadaocheng, which is today part of Datong District in Taipei. The temple houses over six hundred deities in its 152 square meters of area, resulting in the highest statue density in Taiwan.

Dadaocheng is an area in the Datong District of Taipei and was an important trading port and center of commerce in Taiwan during the 18th century. Also known as Twatutia, the heart of this historic neighborhood and shopping destination is Dihua Street (迪化街). Constructed during the 1850s winding north to the south adjacent to the Tamsui River, this is Taipei’s oldest street and still a major commercial hub. Today the street is an eclectic mix of shops selling housewares, textiles, and Chinese medicines, together with trendy cafes and tea houses.

In short, Dadaocheng is definitely the place to visit if you want to experience the traditional lifestyle of Taipei.

At the end of the tour, your guide will accompany you back to your hotel.
