Highlights

Alexandria
Alexandria is a Mediterranean port city in Egypt. During the Hellenistic period, it was home to a lighthouse ranking among the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World as well as a storied library. Today the library is reincarnated in the disc-shaped, ultramodern Bibliotheca Alexandrina. The city also has Greco-Roman landmarks, old-world cafes and sandy beaches. Its 15th-century seafront Qaitbay Citadel is now a museum.

Itinerary

10:00

Your first stop on the tour will be the military museum, the drive will take approximately 1.5 hours and there will be around 1 hour inside the museum to explore and learn all about El Alamein. The museum has four main halls which represent the countries that participated in the battle and a joint hall that exhibits weapons and tanks used during this time.

The Museum visit will allow you to have the chance to look at a series of paintings that represent each battle and learn the role of Egypt and what it played during the fateful war.

After the museum visit, we then board the transportation to continue the journey to the next stop which will be the cemeteries of the Commonwealth, the drive will take approximately 30 minutes.

Arriving at the cemetery, the guide will escort you through whilst giving commentary about the war and the stories about this historical time.  The cemetery contains the graves of soldiers from various countries who fought on the British side, as well as remembering the Greek, New Zealand, Australian, and South African forces.  The tour will also have a visit to the Italian and German cemeteries before heading back to Alexandria cruise port.

The drive back to the cruise port will take approximately 2 hours, so sit back and relax and enjoy the journey back after a wonderful, historical and emotional day with your guide.
