Highlights

German submarine U-995
U 995 is a German Type VII C / 41 U-boat used during World War II by the German Navy. In service since September 1943, he completed nine missions. At the end of the war the Norwegian Navy took possession of it. In 1965 it returned to Germany with official handover on October 2, 1971, and from March 13, 1972 it became a museum ship at the foot of the Laboe Naval Monument. The submarine is visited by around 350,000 people every year.
Kiel
Kiel is the city and the capital of Schleswig-Holstein Land (state), northern Germany. Kiel is a port on both sides of the Kiel Fjord, an inlet of the western Baltic Sea, and lies at the eastern end of the Kiel Canal.
Laboe Naval Memorial
The Laboe Naval Memorial (a.k.a. Laboe Tower, German: Marine-Ehrenmal Laboe) is a memorial located in Laboe, near Kiel, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Started in 1927 and completed in 1936, the monument originally memorialized the World War I war dead of the Kaiserliche Marine, with the Kriegsmarine dead of World War II being added after 1945. In 1954 it was rededicated as a memorial for the sailors of all nationalities who were lost at sea and at the same time a memorial for peaceful sailing in open seas.
Lubeck
A 12th-century gem boasting more than a thousand historic buildings, Lübeck’s picture-book appearance is an enduring reminder of its role as one of the founding cities of the mighty Hanseatic League and its moniker ‘Queen of the Hanse’. Behind its landmark Holstentor, you’ll find streets lined with medieval merchants’ homes and spired churches forming Lübeck’s ‘crown’. Recognised by Unesco as a World Heritage Site in 1987, today this thriving provincial city retains many enchanting corners to explore, including a fab museum that tells the Lübeck story.
Schiffergesellschaft
The Schiffergesellschaft in Lübeck has a seafarers' association that has existed since the early modern era and a historic building that now houses a restaurant.
St. Mary's Church
St. Mary's Church in Lübeck was built between 1250 and 1350. It has always been a symbol of the power and prosperity of the old Hanseatic city, and is situated at the highest point of the island that forms the old town of Lübeck. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the old Hanseatic City of Lübeck.
The Holsten Gate
The Hoslten Gate is a city gate marking off the western boundary of the old center of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck. Built in 1464,[1] the Brick Gothic construction is one of the relics of Lübeck's medieval city fortifications and one of two remaining city gates, the other being the Citadel Gate ("Burgtor"). Known for its two-round towers and arched entrance, it is regarded today as a symbol of the city. Together with the old city centre (Altstadt) of Lübeck it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987.
Town Hall (Lubeck)
The town hall of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck is one of the famous brick Gothic buildings. It is one of the largest medieval and one of the most beautiful town halls in Germany.
