Highlights

Bratislava
Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, is set along the Danube River by the border with Austria and Hungary. It’s surrounded by vineyards and the Little Carpathian mountains, crisscrossed with forested hiking and cycling trails. The pedestrian-only, 18th-century old town is known for its lively bars and cafes. Perched atop a hill, the reconstructed Bratislava Castle overlooks old town and the Danube.
Bratislava Old Town
The charming Old Town is home to Bratislava Castle, a baroque-style hilltop fortress with sweeping city views. The Blue Church is decorated with colorful glazed tiles, and Medická záhrada park is dotted with sculptures. Nedbalova street has designer boutiques, while clubs and cocktail bars are concentrated around Main Square. Dining options include traditional Slovak pubs, vegetarian cafes, and international cuisine.
Bratislava Old Town Hall
The Old Town Hall is one of the oldest buildings in Bratislava. Built in 1370, this civic hall was also used as a prison and a mint. For another view over Bratislava, climb the tower. You get a great view of the main square below.
