Itinerary
07:00
From the port of Safaga to the Valley of the Kings it takes approximately 3.5 hours, water is supplied on the coach.
Arriving at this ancient site, your guide will help you discover the mystery and ancient wonders of the famous Valley of the Kings, home to 63 Pharoah tombs.
Your guide will accompany you on the tour of the incredible complex which houses 63 tombs of the Pharaohs dating back nearly 4000 years. Here you will see the royal tombs, decorated with scenes from Egyptian mythology, providing clues to the beliefs and funerary rituals of the period. Almost all of the tombs were opened and robbed in antiquity, although you will still be able to get an idea of the opulence and power of the rulers of the time.
Necropolis was used to house the bodies and belongings of many pharaohs from Thutmose 1 all the way until Ramesses X or XI. Built there between 1539BC to around 1075BC.
After the tour of the Valley of the Kings, we will then board our transportation and continue to the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, one of the most successful rulers of this time. Not only is this a memorial temple that honors Queen Hatshepsut, but it is also one of the greatest Egyptian architectural achievements. Designed by the Queen’s steward and architect, Senenmut, this mortuary temple closely resembles the classical Greek architecture of 1000 years.
The tour will then continue on to the Colossi of Memnon. Here we will enjoy a photo stop as you capture these two monumental stone statues that represent Amenhotep III, who reigned during the 18th Dynasty of Egypt from 1386-1353 BCE.
Finally, after a historical-filled day, it is now time for lunch. We will board the transportation for a short drive back to the East Bank and visit a local restaurant where you will be served your buffet lunch.
With your day not yet over, we will make our last stop at the Karnak Temple. Also known as I pet-isu or “most select of places” by the ancient Egyptians. It is a complex city of temples built over 2000 years and dedicated to the Theban triad of Amun, Mut, and Khonsu. The 3 most popular Egyptian gods of the area. This derelict place is still capable of overshadowing many wonders of the modern world and in its day must have been awe-inspiring.
With the day now at a close, you will make your journey back to the cruise port in plenty of time for your ship’s departure.
