Highlights

Ko Rang
Ko Rang is an island in the southwestern part of the Ko Chang archipelago on the southeastern edge of the Gulf of Thailand. The island rises up out of 60m of water in most places and has few beaches. The southeastern corner of the island offers a reasonable anchorage and the Thai Coast Guard has deployed several mooring buoys in this area for dive boats. There is a small Buddhist shrine on the beach adorned with phallic fertility statues. The small island of Ko Tun lies across a narrow channel to the south where fishing boats take shelter from the southwest monsoon.
Koh Chang
The island Koh Chang occupies most of the Koh Chang district's land area, along with several smaller islands. With an area of 210 km2, Koh Chang is the third-largest island in Thailand by area, after Phuket and Ko Samui. The name Koh Chang means 'Elephant Island' and derives from its elephant-shaped headland. Despite the presence of elephants on the island, they are not indigenous. At present, there are eight villages on the island. Koh Chang is part of an archipelago of 52 islands. It is approximately 30 km long by 14 km, wide. It is part of the Mu Ko Chang National Park, which covers an area of 650 km2, of which 70 percent is offshore.
Koh Nok
Koh Nok Paow is a very fertile island situated in the Gulf of Thailand where the dugongs or sea-cows can be found around the island. Koh Nok is quite a busy place as it is a popular lunchtime stop for many boat tours of Phang Nga Bay.
Koh Wai
Koh Wai is a small island in Koh Chang Archipelago, Trat Province, eastern Thailand. Koh Wai Island has an irregular shape and is 3 km long and 1 km wide at the widest point. The east part of the island is encircled by a coral reef and has sand beaches while the west part is more rugged and hilly, and serves as a nesting ground for birds. The interior is covered by a forest jungle. There are four bungalow operations on the island and daily boat connections to Koh Chang, Koh Mak, and the mainland, during the season.
Mu Ko Chang National Park
Mu Ko Chang National Park is in Trat Province, eastern Thailand. It spans several provincial districts. It is a marine national park with an area of 650 square kilometres (250 sq mi), including 52 islands. The most notable island within the archipelago is Ko Chang. Ko Chang covers an area of 212.947 km2 and is the major island in the Mu Ko Chang National Park, which became Thailand's 45th National Park in 1982. The park is an IUCN Category II protected area with coral reefs.
